I think the lower end of the market is already softening. How far it will move up through the price strata remains to be seen.

At $100K the discontinued Mezgers are all still underpriced right now by a magnitude of at least ten

If that’s not affordable what is??

Lower end of the 996 market isn’t softening, its stabilizing around $30-$45K, exactly like every other non-desirable Classic 911

A Black-Beige 964/993/996/997 Cab Tip will simply be $35K until the end of all time

And just how is that a bad thing, because it’s an incredible 911 that can now be driven guilt and cost free forever

Sweet smart spot if you ask me

Wow, a Speed Yellow 6MT turbo, even as a Cab, I feel like that's going up alot in the next 5 days.

Yeah, my comment was more generic to the market as a whole.

And silver/black will be an even better deal. I thought today about the silver-black 996 cab/tip I drove that went for $16k on BaT just a brief time ago. And the seller was content with the price. A one owner well maintained 911 Porsche for $16k.

Yeah, I agree, but I am biased. I would not expect much, if any, decline in GT3 prices right now. They are rare enough to ride out most of any downward market swing unless the economy actually tanks. Same with the Turbos.

It could be similar to the air cooled frenzy where individuals with deep pockets and an attitude that money doesn't matter control pricing—even in a down market.

As a general observation, we are seeing less people seeking cars as the economy shrinks, even with chip and supply issues, potential buyers are thinning out and supply and demand is tipping the other way.

Panamera perhaps, but you will never again see any decent 911 anywhere around $16K

That ship has sunk

That is the understatement of this Porsche millenium

Absolute fact. I bought mine December 2020 and some of my friends were very surprised at the price and what we were getting at that price. They started looking at there was an immediate jump, I have one buddy who bought a 997.1S for $45k and less than 60k miles... everyone else waited and clean examples of those cars are long gone.

If the other "ugly duck" Porsche Type 964 history is any guide (and it exactly is) then the "jump" we have seen is nothing compared to the launches soon to come

There is still time to grab sub-$150K examples of almost any Mezger flavor

Or sub-$50K examples of almost any Carrera

But not for long

IE the same guys who wish they'd bought a $45K 964 manual coupe, or $95K 964 turbo ten years ago, are the exact same guys mocking $45K 996 manual coupes and $95K 996 Turbos right now

The only difference between generations 964 & 996 is time

For the past couple years, when checking Auto Trader and Auto Tempest I was often rolling my eyes at people who were clearly running "trial balloons".

Now there are a couple cars that I might go check out.

The question is will it continue, and what will the prices do after?
GT Cars will always hold value … prices moving forward will be determined by the FED… Rate hikes will soften the market relative to other non essential goods and services - Rolex watches as an example are tanking in price. Life is short. Enjoy the ride. My GT3 Touring MT arrives next week. I plan on driving it - buy what you like and can responsibly afford. Help is on the way come November.

Examples of the former (if they in fact exist) will be exponentially "shorter" than the latter

I'm one of those people, walked away from a Guards Red on black with 30k miles for $40k back in 2013. Car was amazingly clean, came with LMs, and no sunroof. Swore I'd never make the mistake again and ended up with my 996 9yrs later.

Last "standard" Speed Yellow Turbo on BaT did $120K+

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...911-turbo-145/

So yeah, there is room for this one to move
