Lower end of the 996 market isn’t softening, its stabilizing around $30-$45K, exactly like every other non-desirable Classic 911
A Black-Beige 964/993/996/997 Cab Tip will simply be $35K until the end of all time
And just how is that a bad thing, because it’s an incredible 911 that can now be driven guilt and cost free forever
Sweet smart spot if you ask me

It could be similar to the air cooled frenzy where individuals with deep pockets and an attitude that money doesn't matter control pricing—even in a down market.
As a general observation, we are seeing less people seeking cars as the economy shrinks, even with chip and supply issues, potential buyers are thinning out and supply and demand is tipping the other way.

Absolute fact. I bought mine December 2020 and some of my friends were very surprised at the price and what we were getting at that price. They started looking at there was an immediate jump, I have one buddy who bought a 997.1S for $45k and less than 60k miles... everyone else waited and clean examples of those cars are long gone.

If the other "ugly duck" Porsche Type 964 history is any guide (and it exactly is) then the "jump" we have seen is nothing compared to the launches soon to come
There is still time to grab sub-$150K examples of almost any Mezger flavor
Or sub-$50K examples of almost any Carrera
But not for long
IE the same guys who wish they'd bought a $45K 964 manual coupe, or $95K 964 turbo ten years ago, are the exact same guys mocking $45K 996 manual coupes and $95K 996 Turbos right now
The only difference between generations 964 & 996 is time

Re: prices
I think we have definitely seen a slight softening. Not just on the auction sites but looking at cars local to me, I am seeing potential deals again. For the past couple years, when checking Auto Trader and Auto Tempest I was often rolling my eyes at people who were clearly running "trial balloons".
Now there are a couple cars that I might go check out.
The question is will it continue, and what will the prices do after?

Last "standard" Speed Yellow Turbo on BaT did $120K+

So yeah, there is room for this one to move
