Prices Keep Drifting Up

I agree my friends. I meant only that it was the holy grail 996 turbo. Not the holy grail 996 or the holy grail porsche.
My reasoning is the PTS 1/1, factory fitted painted hardback full buckets, factory roll cage, factory rear seats removed. Never seen one with all of the above.

LOL!!! Even with silly money (sign me up!!), the kids will always put a dent in your finances, no matter how old or independent they, or you, get. But it's a good trade off, family is everything.

I am going to guess that car hits over $200k. The last low mileage 996.2 GT3 brought right below $200k, and we know Speed Yellow cars always have a small premium.

What kind of vetting goes on behind the scenes before someone pays $200K for an online auction car? Other than a PPI to prove that it's 20yr old new, I'd want to talk to each previous owner to validate the mileage. I'm truly curious. I'd never be in the market for this kind of car, but can't believe collectors would just buy without more background than the frequently vague discussion in the comments.

I did a query on BAT prices for 996s and removed a handful of models listed at the top of the image:
I think the interesting thing is that 2022 saw a lot more outlier prices. This seemed to be the case for most models I searched. Is it that the really good examples are being moved now or that more people with a lot of cash to burn are at the patience limit and are all going after the same cars? Anecdotally, there also seems to be more decent examples that are trading at closer to normal prices, like a mid mileage 996 XAA in vesuvio metallic that sold for $35K.
964 prices are still a far cry from these days though:

That top dot represents the 996.2 Speed Yellow Aero Kit car for $85k at hammer. That was the best sale of 2022 for me given how similar that car is to mine.

The 996.2 GT3 just doesn't do it for me. Don't get me wrong, its probably the second most beautiful 996 and I would still love to have one. Probably drives amazing.
Purely based on looks though, it plays second fiddle to the 996.1 which is just so classic with the taco and fried eggs. And this is coming from a C4S guy. Such a shame we don't have 996.1 GT3 in the US.... yet.

I love the aero but the 85k was just crazy. FYI, not the best looking 996. 😜😜😜 Whoever bought that is either not happy at the current situation or so rich, 30-40 overpaying doesn’t matter so much. I’d be sick personally.

I bet it bids to mid 100s and goes RNM.. eventually disappears off market somewhere. Car was listed at a dealer for $200k for a while, and had just 10s of miles up until 2020. Very neat car that was/is basically a museum piece.
Those red belts gotta go though. McDonalds spec!
