Well, well, well...
Porsche buying 50% of Red Bull F1. Will be running turbo hybrid synthetic fuel powered cars in 2026. Does that sound to you like ICE power is going away?
What about Audi getting into F1 as well. Does that sound like they are walking away from ICE power?
Seems that there may be a big difference between a marketing campaign and reality as it comes to the end of ICE power.
Why spend billions on racing F1 cars with ICE/EV synthetic fuel powered hybrids if ICE is going away?
Bottom line is you don't. Better get your ICE powered 996 now before its too late to find one.

And to top it off, we have some very strong bidding on BAT for two 996.2s. A 40 AE and a C4S after a very strong C2 sale the other day.
Tough to argue right now, market is still paying up.

As for our own consumer cars, many cities are already enacting bans on ICE cars inside city limits over the next ten or so years. That means you will be restricted as to where you drive and as the number of electric cars increase, the number of ICE cars decrease, which means higher gas prices eventually.
Ultimately it will be very expensive to drive our current cars and there may be some areas you simply can't go. Even with Porsche's synthetic bio-fuel I suspect it will be very pricey.

On the other side of the coin, Sebastian Vettel retired today partially citing F1's carbon footprint. (Not from the cars, but from the teams traveling with heavy equipment all over the world)

2022 has shown the flaws in powering EV cars in particular, lack of available electricity. They are not the future, just a piece of the future. Turbo hybrid is.
Yep, the bans will go away as logic overtakes the shortcomings of our ability to power ev cars.

On the flip side, I'd have a Taycan in a minute if I had funds and a place to park it. I think the sweet spot is having at least one ICE in the stable and an EV. 90%+ of my driving is within range of 300 miles and the car can charge overnight. But it can't replace the GT3.

A very possible scenario.

Over here this summer in the Houston area there have been a few days were they had to do roll over blackouts, not anywhere close as California. a couple of weeks ago the highest demand ever seen for the electric grid and for a few hours up to 50,000 people without power. Most power plants run on Natural gas, because of Russia supplying most of Europe’s natural gas with the sanctions the price continues to rise, COP and Chesapeake are two of the big players here. Conoco already bought additional interests in the North Sea, probably to supply some of that European void. Within a three mile radius of my house they are building 5 new apartment complexes. Our zip code population just grew 7.9 percent year over year. I’m in an electric contract where my negotiated rate is 10.4 kWh. For fun I called around and the best rate I could find was right at 13 kWh. I tell my friends that I don’t see where all the cars from all those people that will be moving over here will fit, and I definitely question how all those apartments and new houses will be powered. At the beginning of these year I replaced my upstairs AC unit . Now I have two 16 SEER acs that are basically new and still with that my last electric bill was $398. I measured the attic temperature and it was as hot as 160 one day. I’m keeping the upstairs at 75. Anyway, I already negotiated and partially paid for additional attic insulation, they are coming on Tuesday. When we get into winter we will definitely see people struggling with their heating bills, also natural gas should continue to increase in price because Europe is really going to be in a bind. I’m getting weekly calls, mail pieces about solar, the problem here is that only one electric company buys your excess production back and they don’t pay much for it. Also that electric company is the one charging some of the highest rates. I have also installed additional fans thru out the house. Interesting times ahead. Shell v power 93 is down over here at $4.09 a gallon.

On the GT3 side of the price trends, here is a low-mileage version, currently at $95K. Only 3 bids at this point and another day to go. Might top $100K, then again, might not.

Higher mileage versions command less money and are still one hell of a value in today's market.

This is happening and here in the Southern Tier of New York Lies the Marcellus Shale.
The largest natural gas supply in this hemisphere.
The fracking is banned in our state, so there it sits.
It is being processed a couple of miles down the road across the Pennsylvania border.
Just on the New York side at study last month showed there is enough natural gas on the New York side to power the entire European Union and half of the United States for 150 years.

Funny you mention that. Before doing hood rat **** on behalf of the Govt, I worked for Lexus/Toyota. I want to say back in 2004 there was a push by some of the other big car companies to pile money together for more efficient batteries for EVs but Toyota wasn't interested. Fast forward now, they have hybrids across their fleet to include the new TRD twin turbo Tundra an only one EV. It makes sense now, they saw this coming and Toyota is very risk averse.
