Does the price rise dramatically only on the last day of a BAT auction? I saw 2 or 3 996s one or two days into the auction that had bids around $6k. Do the bids have a minimum increment? $6k seems awfully low for cars that generally sell in the mid 20s to high 30s and beyond.
You are correct! I recently watched a 2000 996 C4 cab hang at under $15K for a week. It had 55K miles and some Carfax blemishes (accident). I was surprised having paid $24K for mine 1.5 years earlier. Then on the final day it shot up 67% to close at $25K. That price is FMV. The nature of BAT auctions is buyers hold back and then get stupid in the in the final hours/minutes. How do I know? Been there and done that.
The minimum pricing increment is $250 IIRC and any bid in the final moments resets the auction clock to 2 minutes to prevent "sniping".

The minimum bid increment starts at $250 (I think) and goes up as the price goes up. I can't find the numbers just now but I believe it can go as high as $1K.
I just collected this 99 Vesuvio/Space Grey C2 Manual with a healthy 176k miles for 16.5k.

The front bumper needs a respray but I will be replacing it with an aero kit anyway. The driver seat has been repaired but using vinyl, so I'll be looking for a better solution.
About time everybody wakes up and recognizes after 23 years that the 3.4 and 3.6 m96 are pretty damn good durable engines. All you gotta do is change the oil and keep the parts fresh and its a tank.
Be glad you don't own a 23 year old Ferrari. You would probably be on your third timing chain and second rebuild by now.
