You got it! Lovingly cared for by a proclaimed OCD seller. PPI was done by me resulting in $3k of suggested work (replacing expansion tank, remove and replacing front axles and more) - he did this proactively and did not add to purchase price.
Manual. Speedster wheels. With service records & history.

Yep. I am disappointed, but not surprised that BaT allowed the vehicle to continue being advertised as '37K mile' when the 996 folk stepped up and made it obvious that it was not. Moral: don't buy cars that spent 10 years in Arkansas and moving only a few miles.

Ultimately, it didn't sell -- reserve not met apparently. I didn't notice anything about a reserve during the auction -- maybe I just didn't see it. Is it possible they added the reserve at the end to prevent the sale given the situation? (I would think that it isn't possible to add a reserve at the last minute, but that would be a "graceful" way to end a "no win" situation).

You can run a DME in either a tip or manual, same DME same part number, ( just needs the proper programming file loaded/flashed) but you can't run a "tip" cluster in a "manual car" , ( different part, different part number)

The car in question had a DME from another car that was originally a Tip..it was installed and reprogrammed with a "manual programming file/flash" and the report shows the "total hours" and the "total over-revs" for that DME in use..on another page in a full VAL ( vehicle analysis log ) it will show a VIN A and VIN B , Vin A will be the original car's vin number that the DME came from the factory in and Vin B will be the car that was last installed and programmed to..

3900 hours = about 150k miles on that DME ....total on both cars....

Yea the odometer could have been messed with by a Pro, but more than likely the immobilizer got wet and someone bought a used " DME/Immobilizer/ key.. set" and had the to have the DME "reflashed" to work on a Manual car..

All BaT auctions have a reserve. "No Reserve" options are the exception and are listed as such.

And now for something totally different:

ZERO 996 Mezger inventory on BaT

Not one Turbo, not one GT

Unprecedented

I'm a firm believer every wide-body 911 is eventually a six-figure+++ car, so obviously sounds like a great deal to me

But I'm also a "delusional lunatic" according to this forum

So YMMV

Wow. That really explains everything. It also takes away the probability of something nefarious having been attempted. It probably really is a low mileage car, albeit one that has been ill treated. Thanks Skip!

You would think everyone selling a car on BAT would want to do everything they can to prove their car is worthy of a higher price. From service records and necessary procedures performed, to its history, proper pictures from proper angles to a clean car inside and out. Little plastic interior bits are cheap and can easily be replaced.

But a car to many is just a vehicle for transportation and BAT is just a transaction. Good thing the 996 vigilantes are paying attention. Just hate to see folks buy a dream car that ends up being a nightmare. Gives the 996 a black eye that it doesn't deserve.

Seems that the turbo owners are like 996.2 c2 owners, they are enjoying their cars to much and just dont want to sell right now. Seems to be a very bullish statement for the future. But what do I know, I'm a delusional 996 enthusiast as well.

Seeing more and more ****ty presentations on BaT, this is not a 996 but a text book example of how to present a car for sale. BaT or Not - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...t3-touring-25/

This is my end game car and the owner did everything right and has been properly engaged. I mean, he even kept the temporary tags with dead bugs from his German delivery experience!
