FSI looms large here on Rennlist, thanks to Jake’s involvement and the number of members who have posted their rebuilds. However, I don’t think the average buyer, even an enthusiast, has heard of FSI.

Yeah, the BAT buyer has gotten alot more knowledgeable from the begining of the pandemic thru today on what to look for when purchasing an M96 powered 996. But I gotta agree, most still have no idea about the cost nor value of service and maintenence history performed, nor the cost of quality engine rebuilds. But they will, as the 996 fever continues to spread and folks do their homework. In the meantime, buyers can find a FSI powered 996 for a good price if/when it hits the market. I for one would love to find a FSI powered C4S convertible for my wife. It's only a matter of time until one is offered for sale. Maybe it will get lost in the shuffle as folks go nuts for a unicorn colored low mileage 996 that has had only one oil change in 20 years, that is bid up to infinity and beyond.

Many cars win their class "at LeMans" every year

But, only one car "wins LeMans"

996 the only 911 to do so

Ever

(no one wants to believe this, and those who believe won't admit it)

However, in 2005 a Porsche 996 GT3 RSR won its class at Lemans. Alex Job racing ran the car and Mike Rockenfeller, Marc Lieb and Leo Hindery were the drivers. It was the only 996 to ever win its class at Lemans and a huge accomplishment in a highly competative field. Not to mention it had the same beautiful headlights as you have on your 996 Turbo.

Good to see that two variants of 996 headlights grace the winner circle at Leman. Gotta be good for at least a $10k premium on 996 prices.

“Turbo money” a year or two ago, but formidable nonetheless

This might be an indicator of which way prices are heading. Sold last year on BaT for $61K, back again 1 year and 3K miles later.

Thought I'd share some hard data regarding a 2000 Carrera Cab.

Purchased on eBay May 2019 for $23,900. Sold this week on BaT for $30,000. I can't say how much of that is attributable to the strength of the market and how much is related to the BaT bump.

Just purchased this car, waiting for delivery. 2003 C4S Seal Gray on Black Extended leather ~105k Miles. Listed for $30k. I got a deal on it (I think). Cheapest one listed in the country and has had some recent service done. PPI didnt reveal anything that would be a deal breaker, some minor odds and ends, will have to do CV Boots and the exhaust. Lots of previous owners but clean title and no accidents.

That 03 4s is very nice. Someone put the turbo front spoiler on it, just as I have on my 03 4s. Subtle difference but I like it. Best of luck, great buy it appears.

As much as I always go back and forth on selling my 911 if someone offered me 30k for my cab I think I would take it in a heartbeat. I know it wouldn't fetch that much but it would be hard to pass up.

Apparently, Vroom hasn't heard that the "prices keep drifting up" for 996s...that would have been a reasonable offer in 2018.

Seriously, though, I wonder what they would do if you accepted that offer?
