Luis’ mechanic knows Porsche Turbo motors, so I expect he will be checking to see if his coolant lines are already welded or pinned, and if not he’ll let Luis know.
Luis has a great guy…I sent Luis to him.
I only recommend the best.

Meanwhile Mezger's can still be had in the range they went for 3 years ago. Even on BaT.

For example, check out he gaps around the headlamp. The gap between the fender and bumper is off, the side marker is off. The gap at the lower left of the headlamp is waay off and the gap where it meets the hood is big enough to drive a truck through.

Somewhere in this thread we broke down the 996 production numbers by 996 model.
Seems that current market action suggests a premium on (1) low production 996 models, (2) low mileage, and (3) well maintained cars with high quality parts refresh. Doesn't look like the white Turbo S was hurt by the high quality part upgrades. Who knows, maybe it would have gone for twice the price if it had been refreshed with all Porsche genuine parts.
But the demand for a C4S which isn't a low production car seems to be growing regardless of the mileage. Is there a fourth category developing of (4) all weather AWD versatile daily driver?

ROFL that (2001 no less) Speed Yellow had TWO accidents on the CarFax, automatic transmission, Maaco full respray, “Kenwood” (Walmart) radio, and a whole slew of Pep Boys mods/ tune. Interior was a raccoon den
The drive video had the so-called owner jamming the key into the leather on the right side of the steering column to start it. Enough said right there
“3 years ago” that was a $25K car max. on the best freakin BaT day ever
AND that “gray” automatic with almost 90K miles with was another piece of work too
It too accordingly sold for salvage Mezger value only: $50K
Moral of these mounting $50K salvage Mezger stories: if you drive your Cab-Tip off a cliff you can still dump the Mezger for what you paid for the whole car 5- years & 100K-miles ago
How is that not amazing?!?

Just over 17k 996 4s Coupes ever produced, or roughly 10% of total 996 production

There are now over one million Macans
There we’re over 10,000 more 997 Turbos made than 996, and many tens of thousands more 991 than 997, and 992 than 991…
We need to seriously recalibrate what “17k 996 4S Coupes” actually means to future collectors moving into a subsequent century where Porsche counts new car production with seven figures
996 wasn’t rare
It is rare

Three Wheelin'
A little curious on survival rates as well. How many of the original production numbers are still on the road across all variants? Of course there's no way of telling, but it would be an interesting to know.

Impossible to know, but we can theorize of all 911 generations in history: 996 was absolutely the most raced, most wrecked, and most abused
This is probably why with 170K made almost three decades ago, you can now go the rest your life and never see a single one on the road
The Porsche Museum: yes, many
The road: no. Not one
996 is the lost 911
