Prices Keep Drifting Up

Pretty good chance. Any intervention will be lip service. Simple solution of relaxing production rules in the US coupled with more refinery capabilities will go a long way towards putting an end to rising fuel costs. But the pain isn't yet great enough for a change of policy. It's coming, just not yet. Funny how history rhymes.

How is the engine noise and maintenance on the Cayenne Diesel? Are there any particular years/models to look for or avoid -- and is the transmission auto or PDK?
The EPA estimates I was were 20 (city) / 29 (highway) -- it sounds like many are beating those numbers.

My diesel got close to 40mpg highway/ 25-30mpg city. Tiptronic transmission. Needs to be driven, particulate filter can be a pricey repair, but overall it was an excellent DD.

EPA numbers were a joke on the VAG diesels. My Golf Sportwagen EPA is only 42 hwy and I easily get 60+
I think it became a priority for that Administration to ban them; they were too good, and would have precluded the current EV takeover
The simple fact that the ultimate “fix” on these cars supposedly imposed by EPA has zero impact on performance or mileage, patently demonstrates the entire “dieselgate” controversy was a fraud

Maintenance on CD is no different, and the motors are bulletproof, but sound a little “rumbly” at idle. Keep it off boost and under 80 mph and it’ll do 40+ mpg all day long
And people complain about the DPF but the entire emissions system can be easily removed (provided you’re not in California, or in a California mindset). Anecdotally mpg goes up 5%+ after DPF elimination too (of course it does, the whole emissions thing is farcical)

??? So will premium, what’s the point: you might as well get 40+ mpg if you’re gonna pay $10 a gallon regardless
Diesel is always win-win: you’re either paying less at the pumpl or getting twice the mpg or both

I can't wait for $10 a gallon. I wish the government would quit these stupid subsidies too. Make it $20 a gallon.
Get this riff raff off the road and back on the bus. the tears of unfathomable sadness would be delicious.

All we gotta do is open up the US oil industry again and relax the rules to build a few more refineries and the price will fall faster than you can go 0-60 in a turbo s.
