That was DDemuro's point. Porsche will never make another Classic 911 of any given year. But every year there will be (exponentially) more buyers. Classic 911's simply attract buyers increasingly forever. That is the phenomenon.

I don’t agree with this logic. There is an ever increasing number of classic 911’s because more keep being made. What is contemporary or modern today will become a classic later. The 997.1 will be a classic by 2025 when it turns 20 years old. The 991 and 992 will become classics at some point as well. That’s the nature of things. Until they stop making 911’s the pool of classics will keep growing with time.

Your logic only works for "old" 911's, but not "collectible" 911's

I don't know of any automatic transmission 911 that is considered "collectible" by anyone

Do you??

Spoiler: 99%+ of all 911's made now are automatic transmission

What is not a collectible to you may be a collectible to someone else.

You make a lot of these "off the wall" blanket statements... any data to back this 99% one up? From a recent interview with Andreas Preuninger, he stated that for the US market, there was nearly a 50% take rate for all GT cars alone.

The OP stated the general "pool" of "Classic 911's" would "increase over time"; logic that cannot possibly be extended to GT's, which are both an exponentially more expensive, and less numerous variant of the standard 911

As for standard 911's: manual transmission is now only available on the Carerra S & 4S, and it must be special ordered in advance of build (GLWT!)

Go to the Porsche.com configurator yourself and try to find a manual

As a practical matter: now impossible

It doesn't matter what is collectible to me

The market has not ever assigned collectible values to any automatic transmission Classic 911

And this disparity will only sharpen with time, as the manual transmission examples become even increasingly more rare

The market has never assigned collectible values to electric cars either, so are you saying there will never be a collectible EV?

I am not projecting the future, I am simply observing the past

But I would not personally count on the Taycan "Turbo" Sedan tripling in value any eon soon

Sure, so you're saying it's not available in the base model only - big whoop. Still available in the S, 4S and don't forget the GTS. In all those models it's a no cost option. And oh lordy, special order!? Most people that are buying a new P car will most likely order and spec their own car anyway so don't get your argument here. And if you're going to say all 911's then that includes GT cars.

A manual 991 is a unicorn

A manual 992 is a unicorn riding on a comet

Just is what it is; no one is sadder about this than I am

Yes, and their numbers will only decrease

That is my point
