Yes but the 2006+ IMSB still failed even though it was stronger than 2005.

So IMO 2006+ should be cheaper than 2005 because at least 2005 IMSB can be serviced, while 2006+ cannot.

When you fall in love, the mole becomes a Beauty Mark. It's one of the virtues of our delightful species.

This coupled with the fact that the ratio of people who acutely monitored the car market through the last four decades and could articulate the changes of each popular model vs. people who just enjoy cars and car culture and aren't enraptured in the nitty-gritty has to be something like 1:50. I straight up had someone ask me about 6 months ago if my car was the "new 911" because of the headlights. Many, many people just don't remember.

997.1's also have the highest rate for bore scoring.

Not a regular 996 but this is an interesting data point and comparison of where we are. The 7k mile 996 GT3 just sold for $140k plus fees. By comparison, two other auctions that I was watching closed like so: 9k mile 2012 Carrera 4 GTS w/PDK which went for $84k plus fees and a 1997 Ferrari F355 GTS 6 speed with higher miles but just completed engine out service for $106k plus fees. The GTS is a fairly rare and low production number car as few were ordered and that Ferrari with gated shifter...... man, I think that's where my money would have gone.

Freaky. I had this exact thing happen to me a few months ago at a tennis club. The guy is from London and drives a Jag: walks up to the front of my 1999 and says: “Is this the new Carrera?” I laughed out loud. He had a very hard time believing the car is 23+ years old. To be honest so do I

Be fair though: 997.1 3.8L, not the standard 3.6L

Stick to the 3.6L 2005 it’s a rock solid sweet spot, IMO. And of course all Mezgers are exempt from all evil

I would normally agree with the F car but is a high mileage one gonna appreciate ?

Good point if you plan to buy them and hope to make money on them. I buy my cars to drive and enjoy the experiences 11k miles on my 996 since October and not looking back. I think nobody would by a high mileage Ferrari hoping it would appreciate. It had work done and ready for more miles.

Yeah absolutely if you just wanted to just hang onto it long term and didn't see it as an investment.
I think with everything peaking currently, nothing is an investment now

If you plan to drive an older car and plan to service it by miles AND time in service then it would make much more sense to drive it, long term or not. Can you imagine having a car like a Ferrari that needs an engine out service because it sat for 10 years and needs $30k of work but you only drove 200 miles? Yikes!

I thought the RE market peaked back in 2006, and “now” it’s doubled. There was a crash in there somewhere, but nobody remembers those
