Anyone see this one? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-cabriolet-17/

Apparently site crashed at the end of the auction, dunno how many outcomes this would have changed but I would be pissed if this is the case. Honestly I would probably refuse to sell it.

cab, accident, needing a top. It’s 26 including fees. A 2006 coupe s with a bunch of mods sold for $38 on pcar, that was
a good deal. I felt asleep at the wheel on that one.

I see a market that had a boatload of questionable cars thrown at it over the past year and is now digesting. They aren't making any more 996s, and imho, the best serviced one's are still in the same hands. Why would you sell your well taken care of 996 now if you believed the market was going higher. You wouldn't.

The ones with higher mileages and 6 to 7 owners thinking they can get higher price, hey are out there and I'm seeing price reductions on them, they are not going anywhere.

As in every market, it evolves. Buyers are becoming more educated.

I think it's that partially that time of year (holidays coming up, winter for some areas, etc.), and if you're just saying BAT prices, yes and no. There's been questionable / nothing specials on there recently. The clean have still been going for much more than a few years ago.

Like most all the 964’s on Autotrader now. All Tip, Cab, or uber high miles. At some point all the purebred 911's (IE manual coupes) find good homes, and then only the strays get flipped around.

Def seeing this start wit 996 now. A year ago they were mostly unicorns doing $30K+. Now it’s all Tips, Cabs and 100K+ examples, and the unicorns are suddenly nowhere to be seen.

If you have owned one of those brands, depending on the model, then you probably know what unreliable means.

The Maserati we had was mostly reliable in that it started almost all the time -- but sometimes, randomly, it wouldn't start, then it would 10 minutes later for no reason. The F1 transmission relay went out twice, and then you are stuck wherever you happen to be (happened to my wife at a busy 4-way intersection during rush hour, she was NOT happy), the FM radio inexplicably works fine sometimes, other times it doesn't tune any stations. Random warning lights come on. Literally 99.5% of the time the car was fine, but you couldn't trust it. Same with the Jaguar, tons of warning lights and messages, only stranded us once, but you couldn't trust it. Porsche is not like that -- when it's well maintained -- you can drive it with the same confidence you have in a Honda, and everything in it works all the time.

Porsche requires more maintenance and more knowledge to maintain it properly, but they are very reliable when you do that., If you want a brainless "Honda like" maintenance experience, no specialty car (e.g. Porsche, Aston, Jaguar, Alfa, etc) is going to provide that -- but Porsche will be reliable when the others still will not be, despite all that maintenance.
I take your point. It was Peugeots in my case, which I drove for over 10 years despite their tendency to stop running at random, usually uncomfortable, moments. Saabs did that to me too, but I tolerated them for a much shorter time.

It's been given a chance to finish. Still has to be a bummer for everyone involved.

I've noticed this as well. Part of what keeps me holding on to mine, figuring I would throw it up there and it would get meh money. Mine isn't a tip but it is a cab, although a similarly specced car to mine went for 40 or but I doubt I would get that.

Unbelievable yet another Cab-Tip-100K+ miles at "No Reserve" from yet another used car dealer...

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-cabriolet-22/

The floodgates have truly opened on the $30K 996
