Have always said mine wouldn't leave the garage, this would change those words. Shallow pockets induce misery.

$35K all-in AND with 100K miles, that really says something about either the market, or the
color (purple). Prob both

Almost 140K miles with bad Carfax and still did $25K all-in. Hard to justify unless you consider it was authentic early-build 1999 with ambers; these have now evolved into a “niche” market

What 996 fans need to (bittersweetly) accept is that some 996 models (and options) are aging into the Classic 911 collector market, and as such clearly are no longer comparable to the plethora of Autotrader or Cars.com examples

IE GT’s, Mezgers, 4S, early-builds, unicorn colors & options, etc..

If you don’t parse these two markets correctly then yes BaT prices appear completely insane, and Autotrader cars appear heavily discounted.

When in fact both markets are in balance.

A high-miles Black/Gray 964 Cab/Tip can do $28K on Autotrader. And a low-miles Speed Yellow/Leather To Sample 964 Turbo S Flachtblau can do $1M on BaT.

Both prices are correct for Type 964. And 996 is the next 964

I don't think one can wrong with a turbo/GT's if bought properly. With the N/A's, I hope your right. Time will tell.

There will always be $28K Cab-Tips on Autotrader from every 911 generation there ever were Cab-Tips.

And eventually there will be million dollar 996’s on BaT.

A lot of them.

@bdronsick Being the generation of 911 in the Cars movie franchise is a talking point you need to get on board with:

Hilarious that old movie was so long ago I had forgotten all about “Sally Carrera” and her fried egg headlights. I guess that’s how 996’s aged into classics. “Age” duh

The question is; do you think that who is buying a 996 today (even N/A) will be selling it in a couple of years for much less than it cost today? The guy who bought the 4S for 45K or the Carrera Aero for 35K, selling it back for 10K less each? I don't think so. At least, when the model has already reached the bottom of depreciation.
And that is what makes a market value rise.

It’s hard to believe that a year ago I bought my Arctic Silver 99 with half the miles, clean Carfax and brand new Michelins from a Porsche dealership for less than the 21.5K BAT selling price of this one.
Every sale just confirms how much the market has changed.

996 finally finished bottoming out 2018-2019, and those prices will never come back. Not even close. The Cab-Tips in standard colors may not rise much higher. But those “$19,999.99!!!” prices on desirable manual 911 coupes are now gone forever.

I paid $19K for a PTS 964 once, that would be worth $150K today. So trust me on this one.
