150 miles on the motor.. I fixed a few 996 things today/tonight.
1. Driver's side seat kept blowing 30 amp fuses. I pulled the seat out and found a frayed wire where it passes through to the seat back. The amount of wires going to the early "seat memory" ecu is amazing!
2. I noticed the passenger's side soft top was not fitting into the c pillar properly so I removed the forward most gasket and found the tensioner spring with cable had popped off it's mounting place. I drilled and re-rivited the mount and she's good now.
I found my passenger footwell was wet on Friday when I took the mats out at the track. I spent my afternoon vacuuming then clearing all of my drains. Could my A/C condensation drain be plugged? Google also suggested checking the bottom of the windshield and door membrane. I'd like to track this down.
I also spent some time looking for some 9x7 or 9x1 sport seats with heat and ventilation. They seem quite rare. Is the occasional google and ebay search the best way to keep my line in the water there? At this point I'd buy whatever color and just have them re-covered.
After two close calls recently, and a non-working horn that prevented my warning the other drivers that I occupied my lane and couldn’t move…I finally fixed my horn.
Turned out that the wire for the horn from my MOMO hub had broken at the solder joint.
A quick resolder solved it.
Shipped mine off to get some suspension bits installed... I didnt want to have them deal with the idling issue but since I couldnt fix it before the car left, they will deal with that too. I didnt want to get a pic of it on the tow truck, not a good look
I cleaned up the Cab yesterday and finally had room in my shop to bring my 01' coupe back over (without an engine!).
Time to get the ball rolling on acquiring parts to get the coupe back on the road.
The C5Z belongs to KNS Brakes (who I also work for). It is a SpecCorvette build. Unfortunately when the engine was rebuilt a High Pressure oil pump was put in- when cold it reads 120 PSI of oil pressure and when hot it only comes down to 75 psi at idle! I'll be putting the a "high volume" oil pump in to correct this.
How do you like the Feal suspension? I’m leaning to putting them on my 04 Carrera (80k miles, I think it’s time.

It's great. First time I've ever lowered a car before, so I was a bit hesitant. But I'm so impressed with how much more neutral it handles while retaining the same ride quality, or even a hair better (if firmer). It actually feels like a sub-3k lb car now.
If I had more money laying around I might have gone Ohlins instead, but for the price the Feals are really excellent.
