So, I finally got tired of my shabby grey seats, and installed a set of 991 GTS Sport seats. By far the best non-mechanical mod I have yet done to my 99.
Super comfortable, of course, but you are truly cradled an feel like part of the car. Amazing, too that 991 seats basically drop in to the old 996 body. Gotta love it!
I fell victim to the dreaded broken oil filler a few weeks ago. I installed a new one this weekend; and installed the proper seal in the lid for the 997 airbox snorkel.
@amargari do you see a difference in performance with the 82mm TB on your 4.0?
What did you do to your 996 today? Considered selling it?
Seriously though.... two days ago I noticed an oil drip on the garage floor under the engine which I believe that I have traced back to the spark plug tube on the rear-most left-hand cylinder. These were changed back in 2018 according to the paperwork that came with the car but I know they're trouble-prone (and the parts are cheap) so no foul, I'll change them all. This morning I went out to the garage to peek underneath the car to see how much more oil had escaped (not much more, but a little) only to find ANOTHER leak on the floor coming from the left side of the transmission. Yup, slave cylinder. Ugh! I swear this 996 thinks it's air-cooled... except that it would have a non-leaking clutch cable, but I digress....
Deep breath.
I also smell coolant from the area of the front-right radiator but I knew that already before I bought it... no visible leak there (yet), thankfully. Maybe tomorrow.
There's going to be more fluid on me in the coming weeks than there is on Pornhub. Good times.

@jandackson It's hard to tell. I installed the 82mm TB before the engine was broken in so I don't have a before and after comparison. Right now the combination runs very strong though
These are finally ready today hopefully have them installed this weekend
Paint and not powder coat I hope.
Also, those are the older mag faces, I hope you had the guy who did the work inspect them really closely while they were apart, the mag centers do not have the same lifespan as the aluminum faces and were phased out.
Yes inspection done by AMS he also did the paint not powdered all new hardware
also confirmed with BBS USA these were the last batch made before being phased out

Well done ! Just give them regular look overs and enjoy - they're going to look great !
ETA... Oh and make sure you get the BBS stickers for the lips
Got my custom BBS Sport Classic 2s on. Unfortunately I need to go back as they’re not properly balanced. After 60mph there’s big shakes through the steering wheel. It could be the hub centric spacers but I think it’s the wheels. I’ll take off the spacers to verify then go back to the refurbishers.
But look at them! Weiss gold for the win. Can’t wait for some sunshine on them.
I chickened out on bidding more on another 996.. This one was a 99 coupe 6 spd paint to sample "Aventura Green" that happened to be at my local Copart yard in NC.. it had 70k miles and was very fixable (front right hit).
If I had to guess it's going to the part-er-outer's in Rocky Mt. NC. The guy I was bidding against was also NC.

Awesome. I want to do exactly this and just need to find the right set for sale. Any info/tips on the electronics side?
Yes, since they are manual seats with power reclining, just need to tap the 12v power from the car harness. The 991 seats have an occupancy switch
but the 996 makes contact through the seatbelts, so just had to swap out the receptacles from the old seats. Easy Peasy ………
Those look amazing, the alcantara will help in the summer too. Do you sit any lower than stock?
They actually have more down travel than the old 6-way power seats……just pump the lever up to go up, and down to go down, and they weigh a
whopping #10lbs less each than the old ones!
