Installed these puppies, did a full-body clay bar, cleaned and conditioned the leather, and treated the soft top. Perfect way to spend a 30ºF day in Chicago: in a heated garage babying my 996!

How difficult was it to install the Rennline pedals?

Dead pedal and gas pedal are drop-dead simple to install. Clutch and brake are a little trickier only because of the limited space to move around. Opted for three screws in the clutch and just two in the brake. You'll want either a low profile drill or to just know that you're going to have to depress the clutch and brake while drilling in order to make sure you're drilling perpendicularly into the material. I used double-stick tape to make sure I had them lined up just the way I wanted them before marking for drilling. The whole job took less than an hour.

measured the crank journals. Boxed up the block to send to LN Engineering and boxed the heads to send to Hoffman.

I have owned my 996 for 6 months and have put 2000 KM on it. With winter now in force here its time for the regular maintenance activities.

This weekend, Felix (1999 C2 coupe) for new oil and filter plus a new air filter. I also got rid of the horrid original locking wheel bolts and installed new ones that I have more faith in. Plus I painted the other wheel bolts.

Next up will be working on more of the fluid exchanges - tranny, diff, brake and power steering. Plus I have a hole in the dash that I have to repair.

The maintenance is one reason I buy cars like this.

It finally cooled down to the low '80°s so I knocked out a couple of things today.



First thing was replacing the driver's side seatbelt receiver to hopefully get rid of my airbag light.















I had to unbolt the seat but it wasn't necessary to remove it from the car.













Gave it a good vacuum while the seat was unbolted and even found enough loose change to buy a beer.













Next up console removal.













Original center storage section on the left and new console delete piece on the right.













Console delete installed.













Hooked the battery back up and waiting to reset the clock.











Cleared the airbag warning and we'll find out tomorrow if it's fixed.











Put its blanky on since it will be left out of the garage tonight (more projects tomorrow).

120 mile roundtrip to take my wife for a drive thru covid test, a requirement before much needed surgery on Wednesday. She loves to ride in our 4s and listen to the tunes. Porsche therapy is good for the patient as well as the caregiver!!

Did you happen to get the resistance reading for the seatbelt receptacle?

I measured mine.
400ohm unfastened and 100ohm fastened.

Sorry, I remembered as I was buckling up to go for a test drive about an hour ago.
I have the old one sitting here but I'm not clear on exactly what resistance reading you're looking for.


I had 398 unfastened but again, I wasn't sure what two points I was supposed to be measuring between.

Hey Thanks guys... I'm pretty sure it's the Blue and yellow wires that need to be measured. I suppose I should try a 400 ohm resistor between those two wires. Unfastened should be fine as that's what my old receptacle was (i just had it plugged in and laying under my drivers seat - it kept the airbag light off).

FWIW, this is the reading on the old receptacle sitting on the bench just now...

^^^ Great! Thanks again I've got some resistors on order, and will mess around with them when they arrive - I'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully I can get that light to go out for $10 or $20 as opposed to $120 (for a new receptacle)... we'll see
