Ha!
I just informed my wife recently that I'm getting in line to have my engine rebuilt by Flat 6 Innovation.
Her only concern was, "are you sure that electric cars aren't going to completely replace gas powered cars?"
I told her I'd be the crazy old guy polluting the environment with my home brew fuel before I quite driving my 911.
Her response was, "it's your car...you're going to do what you're going to do, so go ahead."
BTW, there's no need to spend $1500 on control arms.
I spent $340 for the front and a ~$550 for the rear. (do the front first, then decide if you want to do the rear)
The Feal coil overs ran about $1400 though.
I don't golf, I don't fish...much. So instead I spend money on my car...and on tools.

Thanks gents. This was actually in Chincoteague, VA while on a little get away. Cool area with wild horses roaming the island. Trip back home is about 170mi so should blow out most of sand. Didn't go crazy but a very fun experience.

Needed a place to put this and didn't want to create a new thread. I have done some reading but just want some opinions once I get my car out on the road again this spring.
2001 Carrera, 77k on the miles. I bought it towards the end of September and only have about 300 miles on it before I parked it for winter. Shortly after delivery I had to have O2 sensors replaced and had a leaking coolant line going into the thermostat. Last few times I drove it I was leaking coolant out the front bumper. Took it all apart and I suspect radiator. Looks like the other radiator in my service records has already been replaced.
I plan to take the car into the Indy dealer in March probably to get that done. Anything else I should probably address? Some notable things done are below:
43,518 miles (Oct 2011): new coolant tank, cap and passenger side radiator
55,187 miles (Oct 2013): new clutch
61,212 miles (July 2015): Spark plugs and fuel filter replaced
68,459 miles (June 2018): IMS and crankshaft seal
77,184 miles (Sept 2020): water pump drive belt, new front shock, new front and rear brake hose
I don't see a new water pump in my service history so maybe have that addressed with the radiator replacement? I am sure the suspension is getting tired but that might be something I do on my own down the line.
Just want some opinions instead of me just throwing money at the car

I'd definitely replace the water pump & thermostat if you don't know how old they are.

I agree that it is a good idea to replace the water pump and thermostat while the coolant is drained. Then check the drive belt and pulleys for wear.
It is probably also a good idea to replace the resistors or the whole fan units while you are doing the radiators. The fans have to be removed when changing the rads anyway and the resistors are a common failure item that mean that your fans will not come on with the a/c or when the engine is hot enough. I am replacing both of mine after I was unable to get the fans to turn on with a Durametric.

EDIT: even some newer 911s have WP issues, such as the 997 and 991, so it’s not like newer is better.
