Oil Change - Back to the street oil until the spring comes back and I can go back to XP9... Sad. Cut and inspected the filter and it looked perfect so we're going into the winter with a pretty healthy motor.
And a picture from the last track day of the season...

I took mine for a quick drive which including a stop at the gas station.
when I got home, I decided I’d go ahead and tackle replacing the emergency fuel door release.
I’ve had the replacement for months/years.
It was not a tough job.
But I wouldn’t tackle it, or fuel door latch replacement without a set of stubby Torx bits.
Here’s a “normal” T20 next to the “stubby” T20.
I don’t know that it can be done without a stubby Torx set.

I have one of those catch pans but have never used it, thinking it wouldn't be able to keep up with the gush...looks like I was wrong?

Put on a ceramic coat. I use The Last Coat which is a spray on wipe off formula and really easy to apply. Has to be reapplied at least twice a year but only take a half hour to do. Car shines now. Also replaced the rear speakers. One was blown and to make sure they match I replaced the pair. Sounds great again with the Pioneer AVIC8200 head unit.

TLDW (watch) Drill a couple extra holes next to standard drain.
Skip to 0:58 as YT won't link to the spot for some reason.

Finally! FINALLY! F I N A L L Y!!!
Last weekend when I was working on my car, I finally found and eliminated the rattling noise that I was certain was coming from under the dash.
I pulled apart most of the dash looking for it.
I remove the entire console looking for it.
I even removed door sill plastic pieces trying to find it.
I removed the passenger door panel thinking the window regulator might have come loose.
I'm half deaf, so I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, but I COULD hear it and not being able to find it was driving me up the wall.
I hoped I'd found it when I fixed both blend doors...nope.
It was not inside the car, but in the front right wheel well the whole time.
I hate to admit it, but it was self-induced.
But all that matters is now (confirmed by a quick test drive this evening) the rattle is Gone, GONE, GONE!
The culprit?
What stupid idiot left that on the Feal coilovers when he replaced the rotors & pads? ...

Amp install
Searched pretty throughly through the 996 forum to find and bump a thread like this if it existed. I couldn't find one, so I thought I would start a new thread where people could share what they accomplished for the day without having to post their own new thread.
Its one of my favorite threads on the 997 forum ,as it is updated multiple times daily. Lets see if we can get this one bumping.
First post is a friendly PSA. Get that front bumper off and clean off those radiators. Car was cooling fine, and any cooling improvement remains to be seen, but man did it feel good to clean 20+ years out of my 99 C2. Having the bumper off is a great opportunity to respray any plastic thats faded with a black or a clear coat.

New amp install to my C2 996. My car doesn't have the Bose pack, so I installed alpine speakers in the original spaces, dash and rear. I had an old phoenix gold amp powering them, but it eventually stopped working. This Alpine 4 channel sounds so much better. I need to spend some time at the weekend fixing it down with Velcro and tidying the wires.
