I installed some FunctionFirst orange transmission mount inserts this morning.
My transmission mount was in excellent condition. (that was nice to find out, otherwise I was going to have to replace it first)
Since upgrading my shifter to a 997 GT3 shifter and adding a FunctionFirst shift ****, and replacing engine mounts, and installing a G-Box, I’ve been very happy with the shifting feel.
But there is a slight resistance to go into first gear when the transmission is cold. (Only when temps are below 60°, which isn’t very often down here)
I re-aligned the shifter a few months ago to see if that would resolve it. (I had to wait until this weekend to see if it fixed it)
The FF Orange inserts didn’t change the shifting feel.
Cold, there is still a slight resistance to go into 1st gear the first time.
There is increased engine noise, which I like.
I don’t notice any increase in vibration or harshness.
I have a nearly identical set up and I experience the exact same thing. After a few minutes, once it's warmed up it glides into first gear. I have been debating swapping over to a factory SSK console or possibly a Numeric with cables. Not so much to resolve that issue because it's minimal but I kind of want a shorter throw.
I received and installed my Fabspeed exhaust tips today.
Man was it a pain to figure out how they go on.
I wasn't certain which was left and which was right.
Looking at pictures online, it appears that they've redesigned the tips.
Properly angling the exhaust pipe with the flange took a lot of trial and error.
I fiddled around and 30 minutes later I had the left one on.
It still looks like it sets too low. (Kinda looks like my motor mounts need to be replaced)
After another 10 minutes of fiddling I had the right one on.
They're not even, but I had to stop due to late night work.
I hope to get back out to the garage so I can get them even, and tightened.
The left one is not fitting as well left to right as the right one.
Both set lower than the stock tips.
I expected them to fit perfectly since I have FabSpeed Maxflows and x-pipe.
Those fit better IMHO.
Edited: Once I got off work, I adjusted them some more.
I think they look better now.
Yes, my 996 is in BAD need of a bath.
Maybe I'll do that this weekend.

[QUOTE=jhynesrockmtn;17064041] I had a local trusted indy pull the trans and send it to California Motorsports. The trans was in bad shape based on the pics I saw from the inspection. It is rebuilt and back at the shop. They will do some while they are in there stuff.
Added Coco mats to break up the sea of grey. Heal on the rubber portion takes a little getting used to versus the carpet. Did manage to get 15% off as they were running a sale earlier in November.
Fortunately, I do not. Read good things about them.
Thanks. Judging by your other abilities I imagine you would do it yourself but not sure I'm in that category. Plus I'm fresh out of 20 ton presses that you apparently need to attach or detach some of the gears, gizmos and gadgets.
Nice coco mats. They have style and seem to stand the test of time.

Much appreciated, but gearboxes (and heads and plenty of others) I file under "do not f*** with". Best left to the specialists.
I’ve been driving the heck out of the car lately; pretty much a daily driver now. I used to be scared it was a ticking time bomb just waiting for the IMS to explode, but like my license plate says: YOLO. It seems to run better the more it’s driven. Even at 20+ years
old, the handling makes my other rides compare less than favorably.
Box of left over and new to me goodies from a sale of another members car is on the way including a set of Fister mufflers. Christmas present to myself.

Nice job!
Where in the nation are you?
Explain what/how you fixed the chips please.
