Took a drive this morning to look at job. Not many days left this year like this, so I made the best of it. Nice quiet drive.

Default Took my 996 backpacking

Could have used the wagon but it was fun to put all our equipment in the car. Meant we could get in some fun seat time on the Blue Ridge Parkway before disappearing into the woods for the weekend and do the same on Sunday morning. Best part was a backpacking foursome telling us that we had inadvertently parked in an overnight lot and the scenic overlook down the road a little bit.

Installed a new steering wheel with red stitching. Adds a touch of color.

Found why my brake light fuse burnt: The 3rd brake light wire below the convertible top flap was cooked by the California weather.
I had to replace the wire up to the connector.

Who would have the light California weather is harder on cars than Chicago weather.

that looks more like high resistance heat damage. I would keep an eye on that wire or replace the third break light.

Took it for a spirited drive to try out the new GoPro and discovered two things I can't put off any longer.

Number one is to install the plugs and coil packs that have been sitting on the bench for a month and a half.

And number two is to get a haircut. I normally go high n' tight and it's gotten out of control.

Replaced the completely dead battery. Also have new engine and gear oil along with an orange Function First trans mount going in now. I’m hoping to put some miles on it with the new trans mount before I stash it for the winter.

Good stuff. I have an oil change coming in Dec using the same oil. I was previously running Mobil 1 0-40 for the last 3 years

Spent a surprise $200 on a tire that is relatively new that got messed up. So much for just an inspection and oil change.
