^^^How about dipping them in "plasti -dip" or similar tool handle plastic? There are also moldable thermoplastics that might work well... Good Luck

Wow @dporto got me thinking on that steering wheel!

Speaking of interior, debating on some things while the car is down for winter. Only pic I have at the moment. When I bought my car it came with the original radio unit but installed is this Pioneer aftermarket double din unit that I hate. I am wanting to remove it and replace the stock radio since I really never have it on anyway. Just really hope everything is in tact back there and not tore up on the harness.

Option 1:
Relocate radio up (and maybe HVAC) back to OEM location and get a blank storage compartment from Suncoast to fill the bottom void

Option 2:
Relocate radio up as well as HVAC and get the savannah beige GT3 delete for the lower half.

Current pic

Drove it around for about 50 miles.

Got a low oil warning.

Bought 1 qt Mobil 1 0-40 ESP at the nearest AutoZone.

Filled up the tank but unintentionally "overfilled" it.

Drove it an extra 25 miles to burn off the overflow until I saw the fuel gauge drop, so that it wouldn't mess up the breather valve and fuel gauge as I did doing that before.

Did an AOS pressure check when I got back home. 4.73-4.85 in/H20 - right on the mark.

Added the qt of Mobil 1 0-40 to the engine. Checked my records and only 270 miles driven since the last oil chg a couple of months ago.

Last time I added a qt was after a yr and over 1200 miles of driving. No visible oil leaks or smoke from engine. So, my conclusion is that the shop that did the last oil change must have underfilled it, which is a concern but not a problem.

Will keep an eye on it but shouldn't need another qt of oil for another 1.2k+ miles or 10 months (when next oil chg is due) whichever comes 1st.

Picked up the car after having the top replaced. No more delaminating window or plastic window, no more faded worn top. Also applied Cquartz fabric guard on it and solution finish to the trim along the edges.

If I am relocating stock radio and climate back to the top, is there an OEM double din plastic piece that I would need?

Little project from a couple months ago that I've finally been able to put to use. My pup is little too big for the either the seat or foot well, so I made him a platform (that also manages to protect the leather). Used marine carpet. If I were to do it again, I'd use a lighter wood, and maybe some kind of spray on rubber rather than carpet. Also using this tether to keep him a little more secure:

Amazon Amazon

3/4" is definitely overkill and heavy.

Contoured around the seat bolsters and lower center console, and a cutout for seat belt receptacle.

He was a little unsure at first.

But has settled in nicely.

His hair was going to collect somewhere. At least its easy to vacuum (or remove).

Nice!

Does the top still open and close perfectly? I had mine replaced and I now have to pull down and get the latch in there. Maybe the guy didn't calibrate something? He says it's because the material is super tight, but I dunno...

Love your license plate, BTW.

Love the dog seat. I think there’s dog hair in our Porsche and neither dog has been in there yet. Can’t say I’ve done much with mine other than take it to the dentist last week and move it out of the garage to get the trash cans out. Weathers going to be warm enough to drive over the weekend so I intend to try to get it out for some exercise.

What are people planning for winter repairs or projects?

I'm not an expert in reversing this mod, but I did the reverse of what you are looking to do to my 2004 and there was cutting involved. I'm not sure how easy it is to go back. I have a buddy with a pristine 996TT that he wanted a newer radio in and he liked my install. He asked me about doing his but I told him no, I'm not taking a hacksaw to your car. You might contact cai-store.com and ask them. They sold me the kit for mine and are experts in the 996 with regard to all things audio.

Here you go. I decided to stay with the Double DIN after all. The new needed parts are pretty cheap.
