Is ethanol free more expensive in your area? it is available here and I like using it.

I replaced my frunk struts. Car has stopped trying to decapitate me every time I go grocery shopping.

it’s about the same as other’s premium fuel. Today $2.39 per gallon. My indie Porsche mechanic said that for this’99, I’m better off with 91 octane ethanol free than using 93 octane with ethanol. So far so good. Three years no issues

Fixed? Sorry, it’s not fixed right. Process was scuff, primer, paint, clear coat, polish, then wax. Followed the directions from Express Paint using rattle cans. I probably should have used a buffing compound with stronger grit than polish, so lesson learned for next time. I’d say it’s a 3-4 foot job. Any closer and you’d think the car has acne. But I think I color matched pretty well. I’m in Kansas, at least 50 miles away from any decent sized city, so it’s going to keep being exposed to commercial and agricultural vehicles dropping sand, gravel, grain, etc. I used to care, but now . . . eh.

I re-leveled my exhaust tips.
Unless my level’s bubble is messing with me, they’re finally where I want them.

I shopped online for her.. nothing yet. I had a new very early 996 and never thought I'd be chasing another one, but here I am. She's out there, somewhere.

1st drive after being out of the USA for 2.5 months:
So nice to drive again after being stuck in a van in Bangkok traffic for 10 weeks. Lower left side of bumper has a new scrape from my son driving the car while I was gone. All in a day of a daily driver...
Some small stuff: change coolant cap to .04: no problems, just updating
Replace license plate light holder that lost it's clippy (sin from previous owner)
And tested crankcase vacuum to know how the AOS is doing: looks like I'm at a limit (AOS has 20K miles) When I had the plenum out, there was a thin layer of oil on the intakes, but no pooling. And the car uses no oil in 5K miles. Seems like these data points should be in conflict.
I was going to measure the blow-by, but I pulled the rookie mistake of breaking the small plastic coolant nipple: DOH!!! What a maroon. So, apologies to Porschetech3. I'm now waiting for the part. Replying to the Blow-by thread will be done early next week.
Belated Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I replaced the SAI valves. I also swapped coils with 997-type Bosch units. Previously, I did the plugs, and cracked a couple coils trying to disconnect them. When I do plugs again, I will greatly appreciate the easier to pull newer style! (The coils were also much easier this weekend both because I got a nifty new bit driver and I had pulled the mufflers to have them Gundo modded).

Low coolant alert briefly flashes, fluid level below minimum mark, took 3 quarts distilled water to fill to max. After 50 mile daily drive found back to minimum. Cap is .03 pn. Fluid yellowish green color, in 12,000 miles since we purchased never had to add.
Left side of engine found tan deposit on hard pipe and some kind of pump? Not directly under coolant reservoir and can't see any leak from it, but tank replacement is probably the solution.

I have experienced a coolant leak from a failing AOS. It was a very minor leak and, maybe like yours, was leaking for some time and left deposits similar (but not as extensive) to what I see in your pics. You might try to get a view above the valve cover to confirm no leaks up there.

That's not a pump that's where the IMS chain runs through the case half (that hexagon thing on the bottom is the chain tensioner)... No idea what that caked up stuff on your crankcase is, but you should clean it off and see if it, or how soon it returns... Good luck
