I think 340 denotes C2S

I don’t know. Maybe the cognoscenti can weigh in on that one.

I found this info re Porsche code 340 appended to 993, from online reference online at https://www.turbo-look.com/facts/993-carrera/

Seems there is an internal code 340 for Carrera S left hand drive and 341 for right hand drive.

993 Carrera S / 4S

In the model year 1996, the model series 993 4S appeared in the cloak of the 993 Turbo, but with conventional tail spoiler.

Just like in the Factory Turbo Look - FTL models of earlier series, chassis and brakes of the Turbo were adopted to fit this car, as well as the widened bodies and its PU front and tail. Also, this model was equipped with all-wheel drive, like the Turbo.

02

Just one year later, to the model year 1997, Porsche released the 993 Carrera S, internally 993 340 for the LHD (LHD) incl. the US version (here are 4 cars for the model year 1996) and 993 341 for the right-hand drive (RHD). As for the 993 Carrera 4S with the body of the Turbo, but with suspension and brakes ruled the cutbacks. There the conventional components of the Carrera 2 were installed and also the all-wheel drive had been waived.

One easily identifies the often "2S" called Carrera S by its black brake calipers and its divided lattice of the tail spoiler.

At that time, rather launched as a "savings model", is the often as "2S" dubbed Carrera S today the most sought variant and scored with lovers usually the better price. The Carrera S obtained, because it significantly differed from the mature concept of the turbo looks, consequently its own M-Code:495 = Carrera S. The M-Code 491 and the extension "Turbo-Look" can be found on this model even internally no longer!

Dealer is seeking BaT prices and apparently holding strong.
I’ve seen this car. Not only is the price quite high to begin with, but there’s considerable deferred maintenance plus an unresolved check engine light concern that could be concealing a common, major repair ahead. Interior is quite worn out as well, even though the spec is nice. Close to 70k miles, hasn’t had a top end, running on the original clutch still, etc. Lovely color, but priced like it’s well sorted when you’re going to be the one doing the (expensive) sorting.

Two things say it all: (1) BHCC and (2) 87k miles (which strangely I couldn't find in the description). (I think ODO says 87 but could say 67, I couldn't quite tell; in either case, it's high miles for that price.)

BHCC is well known for peddling rough cars. I can't speak to this car but reputations have a life of their own.

I was in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday and stopped in to look at this beauty:
https://fortlauderdale-south.ebizaut...3ws320456.html

Low mileage, looked beautiful.
Over $200k asking.
it’s the second time I’ve visited the Ft. Lauderdale Collection South-they have beautiful cars and are surprisingly welcoming to customers…even those that show up in a pick up truck.

I overheard the manager (owner?) taking to someone on his phone while looking around and he was adamant about keeping his word over a deal he made…so maybe a good sign…

I was just looking…their cars are a little bit above my price range!

I know there are stories/history behind most of South Florida’s exotic dealers. I was just posting of a positive experience at this one.

Just needs some mud tires and a light bar and it's ready to go 4x4ing.

Following the silver 97 on BAT with the rear quarter replaced - if a panel is replaced - aside from any obvious signs of the repair - would that panel meter as factory original, or would the new paint on the replacement panel be caught by the meter?
