Gents, we are in the minority as old school 3-pedal enthusiasts. There is a massive new wave of younger folks making good money, that are in the ‘it’s trendy to own one of these’ mindset, (Keanu, Kylie Jenner etc) and some of them don’t even drive stick. So these tip hammer prices should be of no surprise here.

To be fair, the 993 has been on trend for at least 10 years. I don’t think it ever went out of style.

Well said. In fact, following this line of reasoning we shouldn't be surprised if tip prices exceed stick. Afterall, it is a larger pool of potential buyers.

I'd put my money on manuals retaining higher value.

Also, and those of you who bought a 993 brand new in period can confirm. Weren't the tips more expensive than the manuals on brand new msrp? I couldn't say as I was still riding the bus in the mid 90s and in the DR back then, there was no Porsche dealership to go and window shop or daydream.

Safe to say Modded or Not they will still command all the money in this market! That’s all gone right out the window!

So would I.

I wouldn't be surprised if I am wrong though.

funny.

in the 991 generation it's anecdotally a 9 to 1 PDK to manual ratio and the argument goes "manuals command a premium because of their rarity"

i wonder if the reverse will happen with the tip and the 993? my car-guy heart says "no"

Jenner's C4S is a 3 pedal and the recent photos of Keanu's 993 C4 is dated, It's from 2013? It was stolen during the filming on John Wick and he has replaced it then with a 991. Too bad he didn't buy another one

Absolutely, in MSRP dollar terms it was tips > manuals, C4 > C2, Cabs or targa > Coupe etc. These days it’s the opposite for 993s, with some regional variances (for example, in Germany Cabs and to a lesser degree targas tend to be valued over comparable Coupes).

How many social media 'followers' you think know these details or even care about them? I don't use social media other than this and another car related forum, but I live in 2021 and I bet you that if an 'influencer' retweets or reposts today a Keanu or Kylie photo in a 993, regardless if from 2013, and tags it, it will get a lot of 'likes' and the keystrokes behind that couldn't care less to know if the guy still owns the car or not or if the photo is current or not. They will think he still owns it and with The Matrix Resurrections coming out, it would be so cool to own the same car as Neo, and I am a Matrix fan for life, but oh wait, I don't know how to drive stick!!!, but oh wait, they come in automatic too??, heck yeah!! BAT here we go!!

Nothing against an auto/tip/pdk - whatever you prefer is cool w. me, but every time I’m checking out a 911 at carsNcoffee, the dealership, or just in a random parking lot; when I look inside the car and do NOT see a manual Im just disappointed.

Like McConaughey in dazed & confused “be a lot cooler if you diiiiiiid”
