BAT is the worst for the “peanut gallery” comments! Many of these commenters are not going to purchase!
I would think that someone as OCD as you would appreciate the guys that commented on the undisclosed body damage on that car. Selling dealer didn't know about it but once informed did a good job of uncovering whatever he could to try to give a better view of the repaired area.

selling dealer mentioned that there has been a repair back there way early in the auction, the comments were trying to discredit him at first then we’re simply just repetitive, I think the commenters which of course never bid sabotaged the auction, this is why I’d never sell my car on bat with such a peanut gallery.
That Beckseuropean guy is truly annoying and ISN'T EVEN A BIDDER. God help the next man who lists his 993 on BaT because you may as well comply with a cavity search, lest you get discredited by Mr. Beck.

he's made 3 bids overall, but has listed 12 cars/parts. i would guess enough 'flag as not constructive' hits would get him some attention by BaT. odd thing is, he dings the cars in his very own market. really no advantage for him to do that. he doesn't seem to realize it's not a competition.

I think you have a case of double standards here. When someone posts an "I'm looking to buy this car" post on rennlist, everybody tries to help, often posting about body damage, things that don't look right in the engine bay, mileage not consistent with condition or other poorly done work.
Selling dealer noted a "repair" which could be fixing anything from a pops-a-dent to a clearcoat scratch to a t-bone. On this BAT auction, knowledgeable people pointed out that it wasn't just a minor "repair" to that section of the car but the entire right rear quarter panel had to be replaced and it was replaced poorly. This was not sabotage, this was someone calling out a genuine red flag with the car. If I were a long distance bidder I would appreciate someone more knowledgeable helping me assess a potentially $200k purchase.
I truly believe that the dealer didn't know about the extent of the damage until it was pointed out to him.
In the end, the final bid was what a car in questionable condition selling long distance was worth yesterday. With a full PPI and a look over by an experienced Porsche bodyshop it might be worth more but not in a 7 day online auction.
There are plenty of people on BAT making stupid comments, asking ridiculous questions or gushing over the finely photoshopped photography that this dealer is famous for. The guys who pointed out the panel replacement comments provided a genuine service to the community of real and potential buyers.
For some reason C4s are priced lower than C2s. However, for the average drive (myself included) I believe that the C4 will keep you out of trouble in the corners and therefore should be more desirable. I am sure that will generate some comments in my position :-)

I totally agree and that's why I have a C4. Also, AWD drifts on mountain roads are the best Gotta commit and have the RPMs way up there tho.
Per a few guys' comments above:
"For some reason C4's are priced lower..." This remains true whether they're 4's or 4S's. I submit the correct verbiage and thoughts behind should be- for no reason except more recent inadequately substantiated, market place-driven perceptions and hype.
My front 4S' differential has saved my car and my butt on several occasions while driving on wet, curvy, hilly surfaces, often the rule in Portland, OR. Maybe different in Scottsdale or Palm Springs, with dry, flat surfaces?
Minimal "weight savings" and related "improved" speed and handling with 2wd in these cars I conclude having driven both flavors, have less to do with front weight issues than choices and status of suspension, ride heights, choices of tires, their age and pressures, correct alignment and set up, not to mention braking. The 4S has subjectively better brakes. And, the ultimate deciding factor- the experience, abilities, and perhaps more ideal BMI of the person driving, be it 2wd or awd.

What? $210k SOLD w/fees 1997 C4S with 35k miles. This is Turbo Territory (see the one below that sold for $202k) and quite frankly higher than most C2S cars that have sold this is 1 example of many as of late. The gap has closed on the Widebody cars and to compare these to a NB C2 or C4 is apples and oranges. This is a whole different pricing stratosphere. Heck.. this C2S below didn’t even make it past $135k!
