Exactly, you can spec the rear seats and always remove them if you really think that 5kg will make a difference to the way the car drives, at least then you have them if you ever want to sell the car.

This was my original thought on the subject and still seems like the smart way to go. The counterpoint would be the rear seat delete is one of the aspects of the car that makes it a T and not available on most other Carreras, so I could always trade for a different model if I decide I need them. I've still not fully decided, my current build sheet has the rear seats added. I do notice many people with GT3/tourings express that they wish they could option rear seats, so it is good that Porsche offers the option here.

Taking the seats out will leave holes in your carpet plus the seat belts etc

If you know you're not using the kiddy seats in the back you're better off just ordering it without

Yes but you would save that 5kg whilst on track and take 0.00006 seconds off your lap time 😆

You can then put them back in if ever required, it's always good to have the option, some holes in the rear carpet doesn't make a difference whilst your out on track or doing whatever you're doing.

If you leave them out full time you also benefit from less noise insulation so you can enjoy the engine sound more. Really up to what you're looking out of the car, no wrong option either way.

Took a quick look at cargurus 991.2 T listings for the states. Seems majority of the cars listed are PDK and basically all of them have rear seats.

Could be that those who went manual/rear seat delete love their cars so much they are keeping them

The 991.2 T didn't sell well at all and dealers optioned most of them - so they went with safe options like pdk and rear seats.

Good insight, I was not aware they had trouble moving them.

I believe I read somewhere that most of the weight saving from the factory rear seat delete comes from the removal of the seat belt and isofix assemblies rather than the seat backs and pads themselves. Anyone know how true that is?

Yeah, people didn't understand how good of a package it was plus people waiting for the 992s I guess made them slow movers. It wasn't until later when people realized how good they were and prices skyrocketed

This is why i will have rear seats, we don't travel light and usually have 3 cases and 2 bags between us. Without rear seats the cases will slip onto the backs of the seats and scratch them. I don’t care for the 5kg weight saving, i care about practicality of my T 👍

Question regarding the "Standard Carrera T Interior Package with Sport-Tex Seat Centers and Stitching in Lizard Green". The US configurator shows stitching on the dash in lizard green when clicking on the info icon but does not show up when scrolling through the images of the interior in the upper right side of the configurator when selected. Also it is difficult to tell if the steering wheel, doors, and grab handles change stitching to green. Not interested in the Leather interior version of this package at $6930 but maybe if the non leather version at $2410 if it includes stitching beyond the seats.

  • Seat headrests with embroidered "911" logo in Slate Grey
  • Steering wheel rim
  • Door grab handles
  • Door panel armrests
  • Center console storage compartment lid
  • Gear lever and gear lever boot (manual transmission only)

T Interior Package description:
Includes in Smooth-Finish Leather:
  • Front seats with Sport-Tex seat centers with pin stripes and stitching in Lizard Green
  • Rear seats with Sport-Tex seat centers and stitching in Lizard Green(only if Rear Seats are selected)
  • Seat headrests with "911" logo embroidered in Lizard Green

That is quite the coincidence! They are all great cars though. I owned my M5 for four years and absolutely loved it; regretted selling it but I use the Porsche so much more now it is gone. It was probably one of the best cars I have ever owned and fantastic on the longer journeys! Drove across to the Nurburgring last year in a friends M5 CS and that was next level again.

whether it's to make it comfortable for oneself or whether it's making it into a hardcore T by adding buckets and stripping everything out as you don't need the rear space.
Only need to look at the UK 991.2 T's that are for sale..6 manual for sale , 6 PDK for sale, a 50/50 split.
Oh absolutely yes... I 100% people should buy the car they want and that is right for them! It is a huge amount of money to spend after all!
I can't see the production numbers being that high for this one, and I would like to think less manuals sold 'might' keep residual values strong. Who knows though?! :-)
I am just looking forward to starting to see people receiving their new toys and hearing what people think of them all!
Ordering with the rear seats and just removing them did cross my mind, but (a) I really don't want to have to store them, and (b) I am sure that would then leave securing mounts visible instead of the complete carpeted rear.

^this 100%! So practical, you still have room in the frunk for a checked and carry on luggage. Able to store more than my M2C!
