Interesting little tidbit:
Does the reprogramming affect vehicle performance? No. As indicated in the Owner’s Manual, Sport+ mode is intended for track use. Based on extensive development, testing, and third party evaluation, Porsche believes track performance in the Sport+ mode remains robust. For example, the upshifting (rpm level) maps at maximum acceleration are similar before and after the software update. At the same time, the software update brings the overall Sport+ shift performance characteristics in the subject vehicles closer to that found in the latest generation series 992 Carrera vehicles. More specifically, the optimized gear shifting strategy in Sport+ mode now applies adaptively, depending on the driving style and road profile. This means that when your vehicle detects dynamic driving (e.g., caused by a sportier driving behavior or a changed road profile such as, for example, a curvy or hilly road), the shifting program adapts and leads to later upshifting points at higher rpm. If the need for dynamic driving is no longer detected, the shift characteristic switches back to a less aggressive shift strategy. This further improves the vehicle’s emissions performance without compromising the vehicle’s drivability or performance.

I was just on “ Porsche Driving Tour” in Germany, Austria, and France (Dolomites)…great fun in brand new 2021 turbos. The tour guides, both Porsche engineers, said we weren’t allowed to use Sport +. Maybe the knew about this. One engineer was on PDK development and other was Launch mode.

I received some dealer talking points for when they get asked questions about the recall notice.
There's about 9 of them and the one I shared was the most useful of what actually changes.
I was told not to share but I don't think the other 8 is earth shattering.

One obvious question: does the software update have any effect in manual mode?
If all it does is implement more street-friendly shift points in Auto mode, that wouldn't be a bad thing. The way it works now is just goofy.

I just made my appointment to have this done next Friday.
I have another need to take it in so I might as well have them redo what ever it is they need to redo.

As someone who has gone through the dieselgate saga, I would be cautious about what Porsche says about any software fixes. It is their corporate job to make it look like as if nothing significant will happen. Yes, right now everyone is saying it only affects Sports+, but IMHO, all software is interconnected. In dieselgate, there were compromises made in both the engine software and in the transmission software. Hope whoever wants to be the first tester to report back here as to the driving dynamics in the other modes

I started a new thread regarding the DME and Transmission Control Unit reprogramming after I had mine done today to fix the Stop Sale issue.
