When I bought my 991 I had to get a smog check as I purchased from AZ....although it was a CA car and never registered in AZ. No issues with passing smog and all measured parameters were at the low end of the range.

No doubt a couple of ambulance chasers looking for a settlement....BTW, one of those chasers might well be the State of CA looking for reparations for violating their precious air to offset a very poorly (more like criminal) run State.

So the obvious fix, if this bothers someone, is to not put the car in Sport Plus mode. Probably also affects gas mileage.

It's weird because here's an ebay auction from Isringhausen who is a dealer for a 2013 pdk/sc car. I wouldn't think they would list it with a stop sale,

I'll gladly sign a request promising not to use Sport Plus mode.

Interesting. Ingraham Imports Inc is the listing company. They own dealerships for for other cars including Volvo and MB, Wonder if they can sell it through one of their other dealerships as a way around the Stop Sale.

could have been a trade in for a Volvo or MB, then they can sell it under one of those dealerships.

I find I only use Sport or Sport Plus mode mode when I pull out of the garage to drive the car.

I have recently smogged my 991.1S with SC (stock) in CA, passed with no issues.

I have a base 2013 with no SC and no PSE, I’m guessing it’s one of the most desirable 991.1’s at the moment, LOL.

When I purchased my '14 991.1 from a Porsche dealer in Rocklin CA in June, it was smogged prior to delivery by the dealer as I was registering it in NV. All checks passed OK but when I went to finally register it (months later due to shutdown by the DMV from COVID) I needed to have it re-smogged by a testing site in Reno. The technician hooked up to the OBD port and put a sniffer in the exhaust while the car was on idle. Passed with flying colors in two states, including CA, the subject state on the legal documents. Whole thing really wreaks of bull**** as this all unwinds.

My contribution based on a recent purchase.

Tom in Reno

The states that enforce auto emissions standards as a condition of licensing typically have less stringent limits than those that applied to the vehicles when they were manufactured, so it certainly is possible that a car could leave the factory violating the new car emission rules but still pass a state smog test. Also, the older the vehicle, the more tolerance is built into the smog test standard because vehicles tend to pollute more as they accumulate miles. In other words, a 2013 model is not held to the same standards as a 2021 model, and it is not even held to the same standard that it was supposed to meet when new.

I use sport almost every time I drive, but I use normal for normal drives, I hardly ever use +. I hate driving around 3 or 4 gears lower that I need.

If we are all in agreement that this class action lawsuit is bs, then let's get together and opt out of it. I don't know what is the threshold for a class action, but if nobody joins, then there is no lawsuit

I am sure the owner and lawyers who are reading this forum may have a heart attack now
