So in summary - when you activate launch control and are WOT in Sport + is uses more gas? Who would have though?....
Porsche has informed Germany’s automotive watchdog KBA, the Stuttgart prosecutor’s office, as well as U.S. authorities of suspected illegal changes to hardware and software that could affect exhaust systems and engine components, the paper said.
“Porsche is regularly and continuously reviewing technical and regulatory aspects of its vehicles,” a Porsche spokesman said. “As part of such internal examinations Porsche has identified issues and has, just like in the past, proactively informed authorities.”
Doesn't sound like it has anything to do with fuel economy while using Sport+, and more like they tried to cheat emissions regulations again, like they have been found guilty of before.

As stated the stop sale is Porsche trying to reduce thier liability by keeping those cars on hand to then apply the "fix" before selling to a new owner. I do imagine dealerships are not very happy carrying the costs for Porsche's benefit.
For us current owners the likely result is Porsche will offer money so you bring in the car to be "fixed" which will result in sport plus mode becoming suspiciously similar to sport.
One of the catalytic converters failed on my 991.1 with sport chrono. It literally blew out of the exhaust in chunks, while running the car in Sport+, leaving one piece jammed in one of the exhaust flaps.
Porsche Huntington's service manager lied and said that I took it to a shop in Queens, NY to have it gutted because "that is what you high performance guys do" and because 'it makes it sound better", and refused to believe it could have failed on its own. Mind you this was just one catalytic converter, not both. When I got the general manager Shaun on the phone he told me it was because I had an aftermarket muffler on the car at one point. When I took the case up with Porsche North America they told me it was denied because my car had an aftermarket catback. I even got the NYS DEC involved. They tried to stick me with a $2500 bill, while my car was down for 2 months and a ton of aggravation.
Luckily my selling dealership stepped up the plate and got it handled for me, however PCNA tried to do me dirty.
I've got it all recorded in writing and audio files if anyone wants to hear it.
So yea... I hope Porsche pays for this one.
I’ve received your response to our recent decision regarding your 911 Carrera S. I regret that you remain disappointed and will do my best to provide you with a clear understanding of the position of our company that ultimately led to this decision.
After reviewing your situation again with all appropriate resources, I must inform you that PCNA’s position is unchanged and remains as originally stated. The warranty claim was denied because the catalytic converter shows clear signs of being tampered with.
I have included an excerpt from the exclusion section of our warranty manual.
The following voids warranty coverage and does not allow for any assistance to the repair costs: "Repairs to, or resulting from, the use of aftermarket parts and accessories or any other unauthorized modification. "

The article says that cars affected are 2008 - 2013. So why is the stop sell affecting later models too?
Shortly after purchase I had an incident that really highlighted this. A car ahead and in the next lane to the right suddenly pulled in front with minimal spacing. I immediately let off the accelerator and assumed the car would immediately slow. Wrong. As you indicate, it takes a while, which at the time seemed like light years, for the car to begin to decelerate.Switching into Sport/Sport Plus mode significantly improves the lag time.
New cars should probably require a warning in the owner's manual stating that simply removing your foot from the accelerator will not result in immediate slowing. Just be patient.
In normal mode, I believe our cars actually have a coast mode (to enhance fuel economy) that disengages the tranny when you take your foot off the accelerator under the right conditions. This likely is what occurred in your example.
I spoke with my dealer yesterday (SW Florida based) and they had nothing from Porsche about a stop sale. They ran my Vin and nothing and they are selling CPO cars of that vintage. They’re are a big dealer ( not that sharp) but no bulletins or warnings regarding stop sale of those vintage 991’s.

I've had two dealers, one in Florida and one in N.C. tell me the same in the past two
Days. One is a Premier Porsche Dealer.
My dealership (large Premier dealer in Northeast) just confirmed the stop sale. They didn't have any further information other than 2012-16 with Sport Chrono.

Perhaps they haven't looked very hard, or the person you spoke with had not been informed of it yet. My dealer's service manager was aware of the stop sale and has documentation from Porsche that describes the sale hold and the affected vehicles. See post No. 59 above. The documentation also included a list of known affected vehicles in the dealer's current inventory.

Coast mode is only active if AS/S is also active. And, of course, only for PDK.
