Ya I agree. I'm trying not to worry about it too much (says a chronic worrier) and I'm actually doing pretty well. I worried about problems with my C7 much more than this.

I love my 991.1.GTS. Had a chance to sell it a few months ago for a great price, but just couldn't do it. I'm just interested to see how this plays out.

I feel like whatever it is, there will be a solution. If it's a detune, we can likely fix it with something else.
If they wanna write me a check and I get to keep this great car? OK... If they wanna buy my car back at a fair price. That may be ok too, depending on what that price is. In the meantime, she's tucked away safe and sound with her best friend, the battery maintainer, for the next few months.

I think I know why PDKs are kept sealed and are not opened for repair...

That said, any fix would probably be very significant in terms of effort to retrofit and ongoing performance.
My 2012.5 S getting pretty crazy good MPG's for the type of car it is. I haven't researched because it wasn't a consideration when shopping but I'd imagine class leading at any price.

If there are states that do not have the stringent rules that CA has and said states would be okay with the unmodified 991.1 Carreras, I would give serious consideration to getting registration in one of those states (even though it is a big no-no in CA to be a CA citizen and to have a car driven in CA registered in another state). Better that than having to get rid of the car or, gasp, have the car neutered.

Here is what I am going to do. I purchased two SC cars, a 2014 and a 2016 and will likely be included in any future litigation just because I owned them. Every unwanted penny I receive is going to St. Jude Hospital. Personally I think this has all gotten out of control.

Florida has no vehicle inspection but you do need to be a resident to register here.

Right on. I'm not at all worried. Actually looking forward to see what happens. If I get a few bucks cool. If not, so be it.

If Porsche did, in fact, use taller transmission gearing for testing purposes, it would appear the fix would be to install new gears or new transmissions. And while they're in there, they can replace the wonky back-up light switches!

Silver lining in every cloud.

If anyone decides they want to sell one of these, I'll be paying attention. Unmodified, of course.

Seems to me that if it's about sports chrono, then it's a user-controlled situation.

Sorry if I missed it, but are MT cars included as well? SC has a bigger impact on performance on PDK cars than on MT cars.

Agreed! I’ll take a new PDK transmission with a 3 year warranty over a check!!

That sounds like a questionable call. Didn't the diesel Cayenne owners get something like $10K? No way your PDK has 50% odds of dying in the next 3 years.

What does Sport Chrono have to do with the transmission if the allegation is they swapped the trans in test cars. All SC does is change the shift points as far as the PDK goes. It changes the throttle maps, yada, yada, yada but Porsche explicitly says it does all these things in their marketing, no secret there. Does SC change the engine tune so it defeats emissions to get an unadvertised bump in performance, or is it as simple as some a**hole is suing because he doesn't get the the advertised MPG with SC on?

Also, the smart money negotiates down due to the uncertainties of the stop/sale and the collects their check as current owner of their diminished valued car.

Not if it neuters the performance....

I would think it’s unlikely this is due to “some a$$hole suing for MPG” this has to have cost many millions to hold these used cars in a market where there’s no inventory to sell due to covid and the used market is performing better than the retail market.

pretty obvious this isn’t transmission related if it’s all SC cars.

The transmission is the same in non SC cars. I doubt that's it.
