Stop Sale Campaign on 911 with Sport Chrono?
#346
Since I bought my car a month ago, I am documenting my concerns to my selling dealer as well as Porsche NA. I will not accept a change to my car that takes the performance down....the sticky part is that I have spent over $3000 on it already by way of add ons, that I may never see back!
People need to not let this ruin their day.
You were never going to get your add-ons back. And you shouldn't accept changes that ruin your performance, as that's why you bought the car. And that hasn't changed.

I completely agree. It's when/if they mandate a "fix" to sacrifice performance where there will be some dissension...

Agreed, if “they” do require changes that disable or dampen vehicle features it certainly devalues it and I wouldn’t have bought mine without the SC option.

Agreed. As far as long-term resale value, I doubt this will affect things much at all. There might be an initial, small dip in pricing once the P-dealers are able to sell 991.1 SC equipped cars again and availability increases, but that won't last long. If anything, this affects people like me who are interested in potentially buying a 991.1 (I currently have a 997.1) in the next couple of years and might end up with a de-tuned version (or whatever Porsche decides to do to rectify this). I don't think current owners have much to worry about.

Was it a Porsche dealer? If not, they aren't beholden to that Stop Sale, I wouldn't think...

Honestly, they can't do much that can't be undone quickly. If they de-tune the car, you simply flash a new tune. I'm more worried about the pain and suffering I have and the fact I need compensation. I hope I get compensated for the time I took reading this thread. Add that to my damages.

Posters here seem to be hell bent in blaming California. Dieselgate started with an independent organization that was actually advocating the use of diesel. It was only when their testing showed VW products emitted more pollutants that they requested CA to double check.
In this case, it has nothing to do with CA but some greedy lawyers who are in CA. Any lawyer in any state would have initiated this class action lawsuit

I will say bully to California for doing something about it and busting their nuts. As much as I'm fed up with the Nanny State where we close dying restaurants from outside dining but allow protests.

Der Spiegel has an article on how it started. Der Spiegel - The Three Students Who Discovered Dieselgate

The stop sale as far as I understand is internal Porsche policy - not impacting anybody but Porsche dealers.

Of course it is. Read this Porsche emissionscheating and simply google it. Conflating means putting them together. Exact same people doing it? Probably not. Big company. Same culture that permeates the company? Absolutely.
I'd put money on it that it's the exact same deal as Dieselgate....or not too far off. The heavy hand of a stop-sale is not because some bureaucrat t doesn't like the popping noise of the exhaust.
