Got to installing the CHSTEK today, I got everything working except for the backup camera and Parking Sensors.
Overall I am super pleased, huge leap in performance from my MR12volt, which will be posted for sale shortly.
***** and buttons have a great OEM feel. The screen is much bigger, responsive and much nicer picture quality.
The menus are snappy and wireless CarPlay is great! Also it can use my phone as a hotspot and play YouTube videos etc.
i don’t ever see myself going back to the oem PCM.
Now I just need to figure out this backup camera.
my setup is not using the Bose digital converter as I have a full aftermarket amp setup through a DSP, so I leave all the unit’s sound setting flat.
install is super straight forward. I used the included phone antenna but got an adapter for the GPS antenna. The unit is super slim so wire tucking is cake.
took me an hour, as it took time for me to unravel all the wiring and the breakout box from the MR12volt.
unless you have to have OEM, i would skip all the CarPlay retrofits and just get this. Install is waaaaay easier and the performance and screen size is a huge improvement. I skipped the erisn (sp?) kit because the ***** looked cheap as did the buttons.
This unit has a great oem level quality feel. Buttons ***** etc
I saw the attached product when googling online. However I can't find any reference to it in the US. I'm wondering whether anyone has tried it? I would love to add CarPlay to my 2014 Turbo S. It would certainly be cheaper than paying $40k more to upgrade to a 2017.
when caneras are installed and working would expect both fixed and moveable lines to appear . Moveable lines adjust accordingly to steering wheel movement.
Exceptional installation will have an additional fuse line added to the fusepanel ! Why? Individual components “always” have their own circuit. Thus if one fails by too much current it doesnt affect another component. Why is this so hard to realize ? Convenience comes back to bite one occasionally
@Joec500 That install is looking great!! Im still waiting for my headunit (same as yours on exterior) from SKYSHADOW store on AliExpress. I ordered on May 5 when the sale started. I immediately got a message from seller asking to confirm my shipping address. BUT I DID NOT SEE IT!! In May 13 I logged into Aliexpress messaging to contact seller on shipping status. I saw the message that was sitting in my inbox for 8 days. I confirmed shipping address. Immediately Im getting shipping updates. On May 14, appears my HU is moving but still in China. I have found that http://parcelsapp.com/en/tracking is the best website that shows the tracking information.
For those that ordered, make sure the seller is not waiting on you. I seem to get a few AliExpress emails a day. I either missed the notification that I had a message in my inbox or I never got notified. It wasnt obvious to me that there was something in my messges like a huge icon or something like you see on Ebay.
Hopefully this helps anyone who is waiting and wondering.

Beautifully executed installation there. Great job. I agree 100% with you about the solutions that require the PCM to be opened up and an additional board installed. I have done three of those installs and on all three occasions I had to remove the PCM after the first shot to fix a problem - usually the ribbon cables not properly seated. It can be very fiddly. The aftermarket head unit approach is much easier to install as you have discovered. You also benefit from a bigger screen, a better quality screen, better resolution and the ability to add pretty much every app from the Play Store if you so wish, plus CarPlay or Android Auto if that is your preference. Plus, these units usually work out cheaper than the add-on board solutions!
The only benefit I can see for the solutions using an additional board is that the original look of the car is totally retained. On the downside of that, the PCM has been opened up and non-standard parts fitted. With the CHSTEK and similar units. the PCM is not touched and so it can be put back at any time to revert to stock.
Both approaches have their supporters. I am firmly in the aftermarket HU camp. I'd recommend anyone who wants to use the additional board solution to consider professional fitting.
