My CHSTEK is now fully installed and I've no intention of taking it out again. I'll send pics in a bit.

I gave up on DAB... because I found a different (better?) solution for digital radio. And all because I have that SIM card in the HU! (I knew what I was doing all along )

So I've installed MyTuner Radio and am using 4G data. Also means I can listen to the Mexican station "La Z FM 107.3" if I want to! @ZedZed ?

I found “CHSTEK Radio Factory Store” to be the cheapest of their three stores on AliExpress. I’ve told them there’s some interest from this forum and asked whether they could offer any decent discounts/coupons - they’ve said they would be happy to, so suggest you message them before purchase.

Separately, @RwdConnor are you still interested in trying the CarLink app? If so, I pulled the latest apk from the online update I took recently so can provide. Let me know

I'll go for the 8GB + 256GB model as hopefully this'll be that last time I do this!

I have seen a few options:
£362 here CHSTEK brand
£373 here CHSTEK radio factory store
£369 here SKYSHADOW brand
£847 here!!!

There's nothing in it price wise between the first three, but I have no idea which is the OEM between CHSTEK and Skyshadow and which might offer better support - any thoughts?

Good stuff @andy2111 ! I went for the 7862 CPU rather than Qualcomm 6125 because it had 360 camera support (6125 does not) and is fast enough and widely used. Whether I’ll ever install 360 cameras is another question. Prices seem to move around a bit. “Heregoes” is another vendor but was more expensive when I checked last. I went for the 7862E variant - 8GB+256GB - the supplied reverse camera doesn’t look as good as others but I haven’t tested quality. I’ll probably sell mine on eBay.

Fantastic! Another chapter in the Porsche Head Unit Saga opens up These CHSTEK units look really nice - love the buttons! 7862 CPU is a solid choice. And I doubt anyone will ever fill 256 gig of storage!

Ratt - good pioneering mate. The Vivid launcher looks cool too.

Thanks @ZedZed . I’ve written an install doc for newbies which I’ll publish here shortly. The method for inserting into the console took a bit of trial and error (I mentioned this in a previous post). @andy2111 will do it all within 5 minutes and with his eyes closed!

That will be a terrific help to anyone who is worried about undertaking an installation like this. It's daunting the first time. And second nature the 19th time (just ask Andy!).

@ratt359 that's an excellent idea. I did have in mind suggesting to Zed a few weeks ago that we create a shared doc or wiki so we can consolidate all our knowledge into one place. This thread is so long that it will take a newbie a lot of reading to figure out what to do.

If you are happy to create your document and share (Google docs?) then I'd be happy to support with creating content and keeping it up to date. perhaps we could have a "common" section (e.g. bright lights fix) and then an area for the specific HUs (installation, configuration etc?

Just a thought! :-)
