That's ok, "RSR" is redundant also (Racing Sport Racing)...

I've always thought this would be perfect and would be very happy if they used it. (and unhappy if I can't get one)

Thats mostly just a regurgitation of what has been posted here and on Rennteam.

The last part got me thinking though:

So, we don't know exactly what we're looking at here, but it's interesting for sure. And given the tendencies of Porsche's GT road car department, we know it won't simply be a GT3 without a rear wing.
Is there a chance that this car has some kind of x-factor surprise in store for us? Anyone want to speculate on what that might be? TomTomTom? ChrisNNNN?

No cost options and GT works surprises are mutually exclusive.

my money is ona "sports classic", special car similar to the 50th anniverary edition maybe

why?
because it has the silver frame around the windows seen ont he 50th anniversary edition or other more stylish and less GT oriented cars

also my sources still claim no touring package will come

hence my conclusion, its another limited special edition car

i rest my case :-)

+1

For all the reasons above, plus just doesn't make logical sense they would offer this in the gt3 line. I believe the silver window frames are a huge tell ala 50th anniversary 991, sport classic, etc. it'll be a special run car... I really hope I'm wrong here, but just doesn't seem to add up my $.02

My name is down for a GT3 now in the hopes it's a Touring Package, I don't know what would be worse, the tiny chance of getting a GT3 late or the tiny chance of getting a limited run like a Sports Classic

Correct. The aero is one of the GT3's critical defining features with respect to both model and brand.

So the GT3 brand stands for "ugly wing?"

We're talking about the same underlying car with a different aerokit.

Before you know it they'll be a Japanese superbike manufacturer.

As reported before, unless 3 people who work for Porsche that I spoke to at a private unveiling of th GT3 I attended in March are wrong....which I doubt.... it is just an option spec on the GT3. Just like the Clubsport is just an option spec on the GT3. Anyway, you will all know on Sept 11.

BTW, Historically, the Sport Classic is just a nicely optioned Carreras S. It is not, and never will be, a GT3 based car. The Touring name has a much greater connection to the RS.

The GTS is near on a quick as the last generation GT3 if not quicker, has no rear wing and for the price, you could probably option it up (PTS, interior etc) so much better..

Market / Perception of the GT3 ?
Naturally aspirated engine ?
Perception that GT cars go up in value ?
Other ?

Not questioning your personal choice at all, but as I said genuine interest as this hype around the GT cars is as high as I have ever seen it and intrigued as to why.
I want the motor from a GT3, and really anymore that's about it. A 911 GTS with a GT3 engine and offered with a choice of PDK-S or the six speed would be the perfect 911 to me. Once I decided to get a dedicated race car, a lot of the allure of a track car for the street faded. But a gem of a motor is always fun and easy to appreciate. To me that's even true putzing on the street.

That said, I'm really loving the turbo. With an exhaust I might prefer it to my theoretical GT3/GTS mixup. It's far more playful than I expected, and at 7000' density altitude the NA motors are down around 25% on power so it's enough of a drop to diminish the experience.

I am so hyped for September 11th... but I'll be careful how I phrase that outside of this thread
