What happened to Chausoul? Did we scare him away?

Chausoul got sick of answering questions and saw no return on time invested and disappeared into the shadows.

OR

Chausoul was like a bird who flew too close to the sun.

OR

Maybe it helps to Think of Chausoul as a North Korean ambassador to a western country. Initially they let her leave the homeland to see if she could improve relations, or bring back info on WTF people really wanted. Then they saw that she was getting too chummy with the hordes, and they threatened her family if she didn't STFU immediately and come back home.

OR,

HER cleaning lady expired

OR

he's still here as one of us, just incognito as she used to be

We'll never know... unless....

Default Touring?

There was quite a bit of internet rumour and conjecture, including a few 'inside info' claims, but despite GT3 production commencing, it all seems to have gone rather quiet.
However, my best contact, who had no specific knowledge, suggested that any news would be more likely emerge in September - probably at Frankfurt, where Porsche will announce more details about their forthcoming model releases.

Ok, so this just in.

Confirmation from my dealer this morning that the GT3 Touring is a thing. It is an option on the GT3, so you need a GT3 allocation to option it.

Details I have so far:
  • Deletion of rear wing
  • Runs with same rear spoiler as a Carrera S
  • Revised boot lid Grill
  • Leather seats instead of Alcantara
  • Textured centre of the seats
  • Painted alloy wheels in Aluminium Satin Gloss

Comes with Manual transmission only.

No Cost option.

No mention of rear seats so that pretty much rules them out I would suggest.

Hopefully it'll allow you to spec lwb, and will be available in NA, and not just RoW (can't see why it would be geography limited).

Sounds awesome so far. Any word on suspension tuning...standard GT3, or something like the 911R?

Yes this is all true... my dealer told me about this yesterday, they had a Porsche meeting for Asia in Singapore and PAG confirmed about this touring package for the GT3. It's for the customers who did't get a 911R

And also a 991.2 GT3RS still with a 4.0 engine!

If it doesn't come with a backseat option, then I'm out!

Assuming this is correct - it has all been word of mouth info, so far - then presumably it would need the 'R's aero package, which I believed included a clever floor for high speed stability. As such, maybe it would need similar suspension settings.

Still conjecture until there is an official announcement - hopefully in the autumn.

No, they did not. The information was given to all Australian dealers at a national meeting yesterday. It was stated that "Porsche Australia announced to the dealers yesterday that they will bring the GT3 Touring Package to Australia as an option on GT3".

Additionally they said: "Supply will be limited as it only applies to Manual transmission vehicles, and they are only being built in the second run of production. The first two – three months of production are for PDK vehicles only".

I gather that anyone ordering a manual would be able to option this before the order locks, but probably varies by market.

Has anyone who is ordering a manual had their order locked yet?

Note the comment above about Porsche Australia bringing the option to Australia. Possibly could vary by market?

No, Australia. No word on suspension tuning.

I will be very disappointed if no back seat option, but not sure yet if showstopper for me.

Given Porsche Australia have shared this with their dealers, I would expect other countries have done the same or will do so shortly. I suggest you hit your local dealer up for info.

I have another dealer contact here - will try and find out more tomorrow if I can. Open questions:
  • Back seats?
  • Suspension mods?
  • Availability?
  • I'm also curious if any other colour options are available (wheel colour change is odd to me)

Any others?
