Consolidated 991RS thread

If black is an option.....I'm sticking with black. Really hope production is able to ramp up looks like we are in the final stretch! These cars are always greater than the sum of their parts and I think this RS will be no exception.

None of it makes much sense to me.
The reason for wider bodywork could be tyre width and axle width?
Sure there is a diffuser system at work - air enters the side vents and exist the new rear bumper vents we have already seen on the model, pictures and rear bumper in orange for sale above. This may help add aero or stability at speed.
This is not a turbo engine so cant see ram air system making huge differences at speed.
All dyno work I have done on my 993 (alot as it runs Motec) was done with massive fans running full force at all oil coolers and air intakes during the runs...

A lesson from the C7 Z06, perhaps?

Okay big news for you guys.
500 hp
Gobs of torque.
AP said PDK only but also said there will most certainly be a manual. The manual will be located in the glove box of every car. He's a joker this AP guy. He then revealed the ram air set up. Not turbo no KERs. It's a specially designed air intake super charger. Please do not share these images on any social media site. And yes, that purple intake is the same as the purple launch color. The intakes will match the car If you want that option. It's only $2600 to have it painted.
Your welcome!

Good to know! I'm rarely serious. Always fooling around and poking fun. We all need a good laugh from time to time.

any chance we get a "pre release" before the actual show?

Pre release is already taking place for purchasers in some markets.
There is now very little in the way of headline numbers that is not known about the car. We should see information in printed format distributed end of next week under press embargo for the 3rd. I will post what I am provided when I receive it, if it is not already available from elsewhere which may be the case. It will be after press embargo.

@ Macca: When does press embargo end?
I would expect March 3 (Geneva's press day) and I bet on official Porsche info / micro-website in the evening of March 2. This is how it happened 2 years ago for the 991 GT3 launch in Geneva with official info the evening before the press day.

Additional to information already received I was told overnight the 991 GT3RS will have VERY firm suspension with front springs around 20% increase and rear around 45-50% increase in order to manage additional 100kg+ rear aero. Rear 21" side wall tyres are much stiffer too and less rubber in lower control arms using Heim joints so a little more NVH. Overall the car is noticeably stiffer and harder (than the GT3) on the road I am told and has already been positioned on the chart below slightly above the GT3 and to the left of the GT4 by half a car. The car is best for nice smooth road not lumpy B roads Im told! Apparently the GT4 is riding very firm too. Just some feedback....
