Consolidated 991RS thread
#3511
Total 911 reported 38 RS expected in the UK in December - I thought the UK had less than 30 4.0s? Maybe they'll do 991 or 911 of them, makes more sense than 600...

Look to the Cayenne, Panamera, and Macan, for examples on naming since those lines are all turbocharged now (except for the Panamera GTS, for now).
"Turbo" no longer refers to turbocharged, it's merely a model variant, just like any other.

600 cars? for 600 cars you shut down GT3 production in factory that can build any version of 911 or boxster on the same line with no modifications, especially while there is demand for the GT3? I say build as many as we will buy!

Three Wheelin'
I feel like someone is trolling this and the GT4 thread with low production numbers...

The production number rumor is silly, porsche will make as many as they can sell in the time before they have to retool the factory for the next model. Basic business 101. Cars like the 918 or LaFerrari are made in "limited" numbers because that's what they think they can sell at the price they are charging. Some times limited editions are used as marketing jargon to push a parts bin model as well. no business will leave profits on the table.

There is a trade that Porsche can make here.
Assume a $165k MSRP, profit of $50k per car. Sell 1,500 cars and make $75m.
Do a limited editin run of 1000 cars, charge $200k base price, make $85k per car. Total profit of $85m.
Not to mention you can now sell another 500 911s without expanding production capacity.
It's a simplified example as I'm not adjusting development cost recovery in the 1000 car example, but they'll more than make that up selling the other 500 911s.
