@Trader220: Good move on the other sites but also hinders the well intention-ed positive comments that will help in the sale of the car, especially from prior owners that are also RL Members.
@Marine Blue: I share the sentiment. Negatively commenting on a For Sale Ad without having any knowledge of the seller or car being offered is just plain cowardice. Easy to hide at home behind a keyboard and screen. Come out into the real world and let's see what you're made of. That said, the car I recently sold, I sold it for $1007 less only, and I don't expect that sale to have any effect on market prices for that particular type of vehicle.
@Mooty: No better assessment than that one. "Frankly, good car, or low price" Both do not go together. In the time that many here are 'still looking" I have bought 3 aircooled Pcars (including a 964) and sold one, 2 of them found via this forum plus the sale as well. So which is it? Good car or low price or just a perpetual online search..
@Tarek is a solid guy and knows his 964s. I snoozed on a Black Targa he recently sold and I am still kicking myself for it as was pending the PPI results on this lemon Targa being offered on Craigslist seismically misrepresented. I guess I'll have to wait on the next winter cycle, hopefully something non red pops up.

3. I buy and sell a lot of cars and 99% at a loss. I do buy mostly really really clean cars. I see some on these buy/sell threads for years and can not find a good car. frankly, good car or low price...pick one. takes me less than a few weeks to find just about any cars... but if you really want a car, be ready to pay for it.
4. 964 prices? well it's all over the place. I have seen $30k cars and have see $100+ cars (that's just C2 not turbo nothing special, just a REGULAR C2)... I know b/c I bought one and sold one at over 100k. and I really have not seen more than a handful of cars that comes remotely close to the 100+ C2s.
5. so if you really want a 964 to drive and not just want to chat about 964 all day and dry hump.. make up a budget and buy a car. it's really not that hard to find.
Best term I've heard used in here to address the NBS (Not No BS but "Non Buyer Syndrome") That plagues these forums....

I am quite opposite of those with NBS. I decided I wanted a 964 C2 and purchased on within a week of starting my search. My strategy was buy the best one I could find. Some enjoy the hunt as much, if not more than the actual car. Different strokes for different folks.

What would you rather be doing? shifting your computer mouse from right to left click or shifting gears in the open road? You choose..

I as well as yourself, I chose the latter.. PorscheOn..!!

Looks to be a gem of a Cab that just popped up on BAT.

Friend has a 1990 C4 Cab 5 speed with 13k miles. Guards Red with black and black top. Paint work on one panel done to a high standard.

What do you think its worth?

Trader, I would follow the BAT auction above and subtract 10-15% for the less desirable color and another 10-15% for the paint work. It that car sells for high 70's, your friends could fetch low 60's. Low milage cabs are tough to judge though so take those figures as guess more than an estimate.

Appreciate the opinion. I dont think the blue car is a high $70's or even a low $70's car. Its a great color and it looks clean and straight, but the cab's don't do coupe money. The red car I am asking about is not as good a year as the blue one, plus the color is not as good and its had a bit of paint work. But... following your math, you're saying somewhere in the middle $50's which I think may be higher for this red car.

I don't understand why color would dictate a 10-15% mark down. Some people like red; some like blue; some like black. It's all a matter of personal taste.

No question that a blue one is worth more than a guards red. Far more red ones built and markets have clearly shown a bias for colors other than red or black.

Some colors dictate more. I put a 20% premium on a Mint, Ruby Stone or Maritime 964 apples to apples on condition compared to a Red. The rare colors are fetching way more money. Same goes for Riviera Blue or Blue Turquoise on the 993s.

For those colors, an easy 20+% premium. If a Maritime or Mint car came up for auction, especially a US car, I predict there would be one hell of a battle to get it. As for Rubystone, there can only be a couple US market cars in existence (non-Turbo). There would be a price war for that. People will lose their minds trying to get it. Fortunately 964s look good in any colors.
