Do your homework on the seller. At the very least you'd better go see it in person, if you can't, then proceed with caution.

Default Price Busters

Gents,
Can we please perform due diligence on the examples being offered before engaging in price bashing. Address the seller and confront them with researcheable issues, bring them back to leveled playing field and then negotiate....

That is, if you are interested in buying.. Not just on opining...

@Matt. That Targa is local to me and it looks better in photos. I too am looking for a non red 964 Targa but easier to find a needle on the street. Goid luck!

I am confused maybe someone can help.

I was under the impression that the front covers for the 964 used around the hood latch switched from the small style to the large style by 1992. The PET doesn't specify so can anyone check their 92 targa and see if they have the long or short style cover. The car posted above has the short style.

Thank you for the heads up on that Targa. I would likely fly down there if I got that far, but the reviews of that dealer are scary.
For you, there is this one that is black, you said non-red. I think it looks good to me. https://www.a-gc.com/1990-porsche-91...ra-4-c-482.htm

3. I buy and sell a lot of cars and 99% at a loss. I do buy mostly really really clean cars. I see some on these buy/sell threads for years and can not find a good car. frankly, good car or low price...pick one. takes me less than a few weeks to find just about any cars... but if you really want a car, be ready to pay for it.
4. 964 prices? well it's all over the place. I have seen $30k cars and have see $100+ cars (that's just C2 not turbo nothing special, just a REGULAR C2)... I know b/c I bought one and sold one at over 100k. and I really have not seen more than a handful of cars that comes remotely close to the 100+ C2s.
5. so if you really want a 964 to drive and not just want to chat about 964 all day and dry hump.. make up a budget and buy a car. it's really not that hard to find.
Agree 100% I set a budget for the 964 I wanted found it at that budget, Found one local to me, driver car for 40k. Sure it has a broken headstud, needs rebuild and a/c needs work but the engine runs strong and puts a smile on my face every time I get in. Dream car attained....CHECK! That might scare off most potential buyers but this is a forever car so didn't matter too much to me.

same here, wasted money on a PPI - key points:

Bank 1 heads leaking
Crank seal leaking
Breather leaking
Valve cover leaking
Timing cover leaking

Tie rod boot cracked
Needs new tires all round
Sunroof inoperable
A/C needs full restoration
Rear spoiler inoperable (never connected, think it’s missing wiring harness)

I passed. But he still has it up for same price without disclosing any of the PPI info

i tried talking to this seller and he seemed very elusive and non transparent about the information , sounded like a lowly liar. 2 people so far on the forums seem to have been burned by this seller wasting time and ppis. I know another member said the paint work had bondo and was a mess

Yes Gents please don't spend more money on PPis or waste time on that car. It is a Lemon jjst like the Silver/Black C2 Targa being offered elsewhere and for which I wasted time and effort plus PPi $$ on. Both Lemons. Buyers playing stupid like they don't know of vehicle issues. Both of them.

The person selling this car reached out to me in July via Pelican parts as I’ve been looking for a black C2 964. He said he was selling it for an elderly friend. He sent me some pictures of a receipt for a $12k rebuild but I got weird vibes. Im always sceptical when someone is “selling a car for a friend”. I’m on the east coast and I didn’t want to buy the car without seeing it so I passed. Now I’m glad that I did!

Here's a red 93 with 50k miles very aggressively priced for $37k (https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto...707183913.html), mine is a black 93 with 80k miles and given condition and goodies is probably a $42k car.

Given the high mileage but desirable 1993-1994 generation, I'd say it's a great buy at $35k assuming great condition.

Thanks. Given that it is a 150k miles car I have little hope it is "great conditions".
