Gents, I'm passing on this one for a number of reasons. Did not even go see it. Not really looking for a project car, maybe if it would be half priced and mileage would pick it up but wanted to share in case someone has the garage space, wrench skills, time and money to spend. Please update if you do.
Anthony- The orange compressor was the one issued at the factory IF the customer picked it up European Delivery. Otherwise all US delivered cars were given the Black Intercompressor, that was put in the car at the Port. So yes it is correct for the silver car as its option code 900 Factory Delivery

RMC is saying this is a “light” restoration candidate? Makes me wonder what their definition of light is! I’m thinking that car will need a minimum of $30K to make it a “nice addition to the garage” as they say, that’s not exactly light restoration in my book.
^ LIGHT restoration.... on that car?
I hate to see what a SERIOUS restoration would be then.
it's needs glass out repaint based on 1 pic.
if the paint is that bad, the rest of the car can't be any better.

I'll take your word on it although I am not sure why they would not supply the car with the same compressor all 964's including ROW models received. I have looked at a few one owner European delivery 964's and they had the stock black compressor but they were turbos. Appreciate the input.

Some amazing 964s coming up for sale at Sothebys... (great reading catalog too)
A couple of nice 964 Turbos, a yellow one-owner RSA, and a RS with only 98 KM on the ODO (projected sales price: $600,00 - $700,00!)

There is nowhere to go with this car. With those miles and the condition it's in need of a HUGE amount of work. The phrase "light project" is a joke. That car needs a full restoration, costing many tens of thousands of dollars and when you're done you still have a 180k mile car. Not to mention the reputation of the seller is so poor I would not believe a word they say about its current state, especially after seeing the photos.
Sounds more like a high 20's to low 30's,
base CAB ??? Reseal and clutch + 8k, 94 + 4K, starring wheel -$200 lol, Black on Black + $2500, 500 miles in 18 months should not be a problem as long as not just all on one day.and oil change prior to storage,
964Cab are still 964"s and fun to drive.
Just my .02 from my chair, Best luck with your purchase.
I offered him $25 cash. Still not sure why would I need a 964 cabriolet.
His bottom is $30.

After spending time checking out the cars at Amelia I have sworn off any auctions. Pricing makes no sense $225-$275k for an 18k mile 3.3T is a far reach and only $150-$200k for a Titanium ?? PTS 38k mile 3.6T. That would make it a 1 of 1 and worth more than the 3.3T irrespective of miles unless it is a respray or has issues. The turbo S package car is wearing painted speedlines and according to the window sticker posted on flackbau.com it doesn't show anything so it should have polished centers. There is something I can point out about many of these cars that would cause me to pause before bidding.
I am curious about the steering wheels.
Someone gave me this one the other day. I was wondering its origin but it appears to be the same as the Les Leston with a different hub. He also supposedly has 6 of the 356 Pre A wheels NIB he wants to sell me for the price of one. I need to authenticate these and see what they sell for.

Anthony- Trust me I am right on this, I have several of these cars with photos of the owners picking them up in Europe with that compressor.I think it is a carry over from the 911SC and 3.2 Carrera era whereby the ROW/Euro Delivery got the orange compressor and the US cars got the Autobahn ZVW 113 103 unit until ~ 1985 when the Black inter compressor was introduced. At some point they transitioned from this orange compressor to the black case for Euro delivery (US dealer pickup ALWAYS got the black case) I worked at a Porsche dealer when 964's were new and the black case came in a package of items from the Port. Sometimes during the PDI if a car didn't have a compressor we got one from parts (the black case part number 964-652-052-00), but the customer factory pickup cars had the orange case when they arrived (when the car arrived at the dealership after Euro delivery it came to the store and we did a quick detail/inspection before delivery). You can also search the various 964 sites in Europe and see cars with the orange unit.
Here is the orange compressor in close up:
Here is an example of one of the early 89.5 964 C4 option code 900 US Model/Factory Delivery cars, note the compressor: (For fun you can spot Euro delivery cars in several ways: option code 900, sticker in drivers jam above striker that reads CATALYST in large font, Service book stamped "Tourist Delivery" to left of option code, inclusion of the red warning triangle and 1st aid kit)

I recall one of these came with my euro SC I picked up in 85 but unfortunately it was stollen at the docks along with the bulb kit, tire pressure gauge, first aid kit, triangles, gloves plastic mat and tool kit. I should have taken them with me when I flew back.
I am assuming by 94 they stopped using the orange ones. My friends turbo euro delivery came with the black one when it arrived at the docks but a lot of stuff happened then.

Interesting info...my car was picked up as European Delivery with option code 900 too and I have the orange compressor as well.
