Another misnomer. Buy a sound car, find a reasonable mechanic that won't rip you off and keep them properly maintained and they will run forever. No more expensive than any other car from that era. The differences are Porsche classic keeps producing parts as where many of the other sports cars of the time parts are NLA. Many times parts are more reasonable than similar modern day parts for the newer Porsche's which aren't cheap. My sons High pressure fuel pump on his 14 cayman S was $1,100 how much are 964 fuel pumps and how often do they fail?
Yeah I was being sarcastic (lost in text)

It hasn't really been this bad since my cost of acquisition was very low, still dropping 12k at a reputable mechanic to get it 100% sorted still stings a bit!

Every car and owner is different. I hear you but everything has gotten out of control. Hurricane Ida forced me to get a new roof on my house. 25 years ago it cost me $12k this year i got quotes ranging from $41k to $65k for a roof. 😳

after finishing my garage remodel, we were going to move on to several other large house projects. quotes have been so insane, we've put many of the projects on hold.

all material prices are nuts right now. until all the supply chains are back to normal, costs will be rather prohibitive.

the worst part is the long wait to get parts from Germany

and damn man how big is your roof? Hopefully insurance is covering that!

Looking for some feedback on what my 1992 c2 could be worth? Just stored it for the winter but thinking about options for the spring (including keeping it). Appreciate it.Black Schwarz Metallic 1992 C2 52,000 miles. One owner car from 1992-2019 (In my care from Aug 2019 to the present)

Couple paint chips on hood (touched up). Car is accident free and all original paint - protected with 5-year ceramic coating. All original other than custom momo steering wheel (have original). Original 16” cup wheels and rare 18” ACP Jara Cup wheels.

Over $16,000 in work done at Porsche St.Paul in recent years over and above regular maintenance by previous owner. Aug 2019 - pads and rotors front/rear. July 2018 - flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, resealed timing cover, reseal lower valve cover and valve adjustment. Aug 2016 - r-134a a/c conversion. Bone dry. Not a drop of oil.

Lots more pics on the car's instagram. https://www.instagram.com/airkuhld_964/

Looks like a pretty amazing car and buying it in 8/19 probably did not pay crazy money for it (though color me curious). Not a lot of reference points to gauge the market on a very nice lowish mile C2 coupe. Last week a red '91 C2 with 89k miles sold on BAT for $86k. There is a current listing for a Cobalt Blue '92 C2 with 68k miles and with 2 days left it's at $66k. That said it has rust at the windshield corner, big windshield chip, funky headliner, carpet stain, etc.

I would guess if you put it on BAT the number would be well north of $100k but how north I have no idea. Given the infrequency of nice C2 coupes coming to market I think that they are still undervalued and especially when compared with the 993. They seem to be on the market at a ratio of 10:1 and 993s selling for big (IMO) numbers. Yes they are the "last" air cooled 911 but the have a body that to my eye is more next generation. I wanted a 964 as it is the "last" traditional 911 look car and you could not pry mine away for $30k - $40k more than it is worth.

Trust me I know. It is very hard to get anything especially some Porsche parts. Some dealerships by me have had to buy relatively new cars back because they can't get simple brake rotors or pads. I have been waiting for months for some parts for my projects. Stupid little things you can't believe will bring a project to a crashing halt. The Italian car world is even worse from what I hear.

Only 6.8k sq ft although it wasn't as much the up-charge for materials as just the inflation of everything around me. I have no doubt everyone is seeing the same.

Yeah GL with insurance. I might see something but nothing significant.

93 Black RSA 55K miles on BaT, quickly jumped to $100K . Looks like a decent example with some front end paint based on the meter readings. It’s actually local to me and I have the twin albeit not quite as clean, so I would be interested to see in person

i follow the online auction market rather closely and keeps tabs nearly on a daily basis. you can go to BaT and pull specific results for 964s very easily to gain a feel for where you might be.

with your car's history, recent work to keep it in this condition, accident-free and original paint, etc., you have a car that i believe the BaT community would love. a cobalt 964 just sold for $106k all in and it doesn't seem to have been in the overall condition of your car. i would suggest you're somewhere in the $105-120k range (before BaT's $5k premium) depending on how proactive you are with the auction. if you're available for questions and can support all your claims, you will do very well.

only 993 WBs are pulling larger numbers have 964 NBs. 964 NBs are still pulling stronger numbers than 993 NBs. a slate gray 993 NB just brought $126k, but it was a PTS with exclusive options. BaT bidders ate that car up and paid accordingly.
