If the economics are going to make sense for a 928, ^^ this ^^ would be a good example (for the buyer )

I actually submitted the car to BaT and they liked my car, but was told that this is their busiest season and they asked that I resubmit later (not sure when "later" exactly is) when the amount of submissions has declined. Additionally, as we all know BaT was recently sold to large conglomerate, so the way they handle and process auctions has changed. So in the meantime, I thought it might be a good idea to post the car for sale on Rennlist.

Anyone in East TN or nearby regions (Nashville, Asheville, Atlanta, Cinci etc) have a manual S4 they'd be willing to show me? I'm interested in slownrusty's car but I have never seen any S4 in the flesh so I'm hoping I can get a feel for one without taking a trip to Houston...

Have you considered Cars and Bids? May be worth checking out if there are no takers on RL

You will get a better response if you post a new topic with your request. More eyeballs looking there. That's one hell of a deal on slownrusty 928!

I've been in text contact with the seller. I might go down to see it next week. I need the experts in here to chime in. Differences between the S4 and the GT? 58k seems on the high side, condition, flaws, etc? So please give me thoughts and comments on this car before I drive down to Miami to see it.

Would all depend on the maintenance to me.
If my math is correct it has only been driven 4k miles in 12 years.
He mentions timing belt and a few other things replaced recently...but could still need some cash dumped into it.
If everything checks out...thats a fair price for a low mileage GT like this IMO.

So more pics here......He does claim in the ad that he replaced brakes in 2018, 2019 clutch. 2020 timing belt, water pump & new battery. But those receipts are not pictured in the photos he sent me via dropbox.

Just as a follow-up, I just received a deposit on my '87 S4 Manual.

Congrats...in a bittersweet kind of way. I can't imagine you having put all of that work into the car with the plan to turn around and sell it.
From what I can see somebody is getting a really nice, well-sorted car at a really good price..and a manual at that!

Was the model designation delete on the Gt standard for all US cars?

Thank-you kindly, yes I put a tremendous amount of sweat equity into the car, to make it really nice but equally important catch it up on all the deferred maintenance and make it mechanically strong, reliable and strong. Truthfully I did get a little burnt out on it as so much time and money went into the car, but that's part of ownership. While the car is quite incredible, its not perfect but to be expected with a 33-year old German sports car.

The new owner is 28 (I could be his dad!!) and he thought it would be cool to have a 928, its his first Porsche and currently has a Miata. Its nice to see the younger generation getting into the 928s and appreciating them, I think he will take good care of the car and a good person to pass the baton onto.

Again thank-you all for the love and appreciation. I'm not going anywhere, as I still have my '88 S4 Manual to keep me out of trouble and the passion torch burning bright!

Not sure about 1990 models, but for comparison, there are currently 42 GT's in the Registry for 1991 and 39 of the 42 were optioned with: M498 - Deletion of model designation on rear end.
So apparently it was more common not to have it.
