I bought a pristine looking 1967 Corvette coupe from the St. Louis Auto museum, intending for it to be an investment, not a driver. They advertised this car as wonderful. I hired a Corvette mechanic from a local dealer to check it out for me. He said it was perfect other than a leaking head gasket. I bought it and took it to my local classic car shop to replace the head gasket. They found that it was not just a head gasket. It needed a total engine rebuild. I had a new engine built for it, but rebuilt the original engine so I could offer matching numbers to the next buyer.
I later discovered that this Corvette's seller was a brother to one of the owners of this "museum". I can't prove, but am deeply suspicious, that he was aware of the engine issue, spent a bundle fixing up the cosmetics, and then sold it to me. The car kept having problems. I lost a ton selling it with full disclosure. I will never ever buy another car from this place. The last one hurt too much!
Hey guys, I would like some helpful opinions on my for sale ad. I've had very limited interest expressed for my car which is a little surprising to me. I know the car isn't perfect but its also far from a rough condition car. Am I really overpriced for the condition? When I thought about an asking price I considered all that has been addressed and the condition, which I believe to be a really nice driver. Sure there are still things to do, but most 39 year old cars will need need items addressed as time goes by. I appreciate any constructive help in this. It's been a difficult decision to part ways with this car and having it drawn out makes it harder.
Throwing this out there to see if there would be any interest. It's taken me over a year to get to this point of putting it up for sale, and believe me it's not been an easy decision. I have meet a lot of you guys over the years so you know that this isn't the easiest thing to do and some of you know my car pretty well. It would be nice to see someone from this group take the reins with this car and get it to the next level.
1981 Porsche 928, $16.000 117k miles, automatic transmission, Non sunroof car, Single drivers side mirror car, A/c converted to 134a blows cold, AM/FM Bluetooth hidden stereo, original non functioning stereo in console for factory look. This car is in great shape , Paint shows it's age but is still in good shape. I have driven this car on long road trips with no issues. Interior is in beautiful shape, power front seats work, no rips or tears. No cracks in dash or instrument pod. Everything works on the car, power windows, cruise control, power door locks, Power mirror. This is a great early Porsche 928 that has been enjoyed by my family for 33 years.
As with any classic this is an on going project as a 39 year old car truly is. With that being said the reason I'm selling this family car is I have been working on this car for well over 25 years and been restoring it for the last 12 years. The parts list is long and countless hrs spent getting it to this point. Approximately a year ago I discovered a small coolant leak that collects on top just forward of the bellhousing, not much, about a tablespoon and this only happens when under hard acceleration otherwise under normal driving it stays dry. The coolant issue doesn't have to be addressed at this time, I feel that the degree of leak is what I would say (the juice just isn't worth the squeeze). To small of a leak to justify the amount of work to correct it. As of late I have had a hard time with the desire to continue on and I feel that maybe it's time to part ways with this special car.
If you're really interested in owning a solid 928 and have the desire to work on one of these cars, this is a great car to do that with. This 928 is much more than just a running car. A majority of the issues that effect old 928's have already been addressed. You won't be disappointed in this car. This 928 is really a fantastic car that is in wonderful shape and absolute a joy to drive. I am more than happy to talk about this car to any serious buyer.
Oil changes were done with Mobil 1 since 22k original miles, since we purchased the car back in September 1987. I have performed all maintenance per Porsche 928 shop manuals. Note: I have dropped the price to $15250.00
Honestly, it is an auto car from the least sought after genre of 928. Price is too high. You clearly have a lot into it with the mechanics but there are just too many other 1980 to 1984 auto cars in the same or better condition for less money. I bought my 5spd car 3 years ago in better condition for 6k.

Yeah, it's the price. The car is nice and it looks like a good runner. But the interesting things (early car, no roof, no rubbies, single mirror) only help with the right buyer. The black/camel combination is fine, but run-of-the-mill. The pinstripe is cool.
I just agreed to buy a good running '84 S with as much work done as you have into yours. The interior needs a little love, but the paint is a beautiful Ruby Red. It has a sunroof, which I'll live with. It also has rubbies and spoilers, and rear quarter damage from a guardrail hit. All that will be taken care of at the same time. I'm paying $7,500 for the car. Other than the paint, it's not as interesting as yours (I like early no roof, no rubbies cars), but for half the price, I can live with it.

Just saw a new listing for 1989, low mile, 5-speed that the VIN checks out as this BaT that did not meet reserve. At a dealer in Illinois, with no info or pictures yet. Someone here probably knows about this car?
Low mile Metallic black/pearl over silk XX8 on BAT... Lots of leather and some root wood... Looks nice at first glance, some crust on the exhaust and has seen some sun. What do you guys think it should go for?
I threw $60,000 into the mix because these things are really euros with some exclusive extras... But as I looked through this thread it appears prices have softened a bit on all 928's.
P9 Motorsports Rear Mounted Turbo S4. If I wasn’t selling my house this would be in my garage tomorrow. Needs some work but if as mechanically sound as the seller states, this is easily the most HP/$ 928 on the market and it ain’t even close.
beautiful interior and seems like a lot of good maintenance for the money
Has anyone seen this car? Any knowledge of it or the seller? Seems like a good deal but really hard to know for sure from the pics. Price seems very fair. All comments appreciated.
Any comments on the Red/Tan S4 that just went for $12,500? Seems extremely inexpensive, didn't bid because I assumed it would go way up. Got Covid and forgot about it. Wish I would have bid, only one state away!
Hey Rob, I just saw that and commented. Love the uniqueness of the really early ones! What's the deal with the tan? Think that's original, or added from another car? I noticed the rear visors are brown, not tan. I ask because it's otherwise identical to my interior (other than the sunroof).
