Front protection plate.

Not anymore it's not.

Any idea what happened to it?

It almost had to have happened off the car. I can't imagine that kind of damage happening on the car.

ive had the car for 20years and am pretty certain this all occured prior. There is history of damage to the ac compresser and bracket on my car so that would explain the large deformation on the right/pax side. Other than that, my guess is just curbs..steep slopes....dunno.
Fixed now. It will be interesting when i pull into my drive way when the car is all settled. The approach is pretty steep.

on topic..
todays job...the rain gutters and sunroof panel seal. Then just a matter of collecting all the parts to be painted and drawing up some notes for the body shop to address and be aware off etc.

Diagnosed a hard starting issue to a worn out (leaking gas when pulling a vac with mity vac) fuel pressure damper. Its the one at the back by the MAF. Of course, its the only one I haven't changed in 10 years and I didn't need to because my old supercharger didn't use it and my new one won't either. Just went bad during the time I am driving it NA. Temp II sensor wiring is bad too so ordered a new pigtail for that from Roger. Now, just to sort the new keyless entry/power mirrors/power seats acting wonky. Think it is a short in the door wiring harness.

So I had my fuel injectors ultra sonically cleaned, flow balanced and tested. The lab performing the work said that the condition was commensurate with the age and years (1987 S4 with 116k miles) and a few of the injectors were borderline, so really looking forward to driving the car in the future with all 8 injectors cleaned and performing equally. Cost was $156 US for all 8 injectors and a two day turnaround.

Those injectors look pretty clean compared to the ones out of my 130K '87. Looks like they have been cleaned before. I wouldn't expect too much performance difference. For mine, cleaning made a noticeable difference in performance, and especially in reduced emissions. A few of mine were dripping and running at half flow rate.

After a long day in the garage.

Intake manifold ceramic coated, rubber lines replaced, new gaskets, injectors rebuilt...all back together and ready for start-up and the maiden voyage tomorrow.

I haven't the slightest idea why the mirror controls were being wonky, none at all.

Clean and ready to go back together, not pictured the tiny amount of grease before final assembly. Very useful for holding the springs and pins in place.

It's exactly as fiddly to put back together as it looks, but it fixed the issue.

I started it for the first time this year.
Everything went well.
With all that is happening right now, I might not drive it much this year.
I like to go to coffee runs with our local PCA group and go to Frenzy each year but as now, nothing is going to happen this summer.
We'll see…

New rear shocks, rotors, pads, brake lines, wear sensors and a heck of a lot of cleaning. Time to move on to the front.
