Good luck,
Dave

In testing phase of new S4/GT/GTS EZK chips. Lots of high power driving to do

Not only is it super smooth but it turns out there is a generous torque increase with all eight cylinders individually ignition balanced
  • Continuously updating short-term overall advance/retard by cylinder (octane adaptation)
  • Eight 32-column (1700-4000 rpm) self-fine-tuning long-term advance/retard maps saved in static RAM

I'm gonna bet that the 'skill' he was working on was 'how to unlock the door of a 928 when you've locked the keys inside'.

100% correct Joe. Took some intense practice and I was just about to give up and "go in" from another direction when I saw the **** jiggle. That time when you raise your clenched hands above your head and yell, "I am King of the World"......well, I got my damn keys from the floorboard of the car.

Next, I have to sharpen my skills calling 928 Intl to let them know that I am overnighting a key that I need a couple of duplicates for. (After I take a digital picture of it)

Ken, That sounds like a lot of added fun. Can't wait.

Left my car in accessory mode for a week (key in, forgot). Battery totally dead, we'll see if I can recharge it. Drat.

Thanks for the info. I hope I don't ever have that happen to me. Glad you solved the problem.
Thanks,
Dave

So I have to drive over to my parents' every once in awhile to check in on them and bring food. 30 minute drive with no traffic, hour and a quarter with the usual traffic.

This morning I was on the way back, major interstate, totally deserted stretch and I figured I would see what the car would do. Darn thing cruises at 130 without breaking a sweat, then I slowed down to the new speed limit, which seems around here to be 90-100mph on the interstates.

Yes, it's a screwed up time in a lot of ways. Still it was nice to stretch my car's legs and just really see what it could do. Answer is a lot more than the 944S and I can see why this is truly a GT rated car.....

If fuel consumption is not first criteria fully working S4, GT or GTS will keep 200-220 kph (120-135 mph) average speed at empty autobahns all day long. Just have to stop for fuel and oil level check every few hours.

Yep sounds like you're on the right track. Align the hatch first, then adjust the alignment of the receivers, hatch-body-motor.

The exterior male hatch bolts are at the top of the hatch, under the front-most lip of the hatch. the matching nuts are accessed by removing the two plastic clip-in "plates" in the rear portion of the front/main headliner.

Loosen the bolts and adjust the position of the hatch, best accomplished with two people if possible, doable solo, but more frustrating getting it lined up.

There are also two rubber nubs on the interior of the hatch, on both rear corners of the hatch, they are bumpers and can be screwed/unscrewed to adjust/absorb the closed position of the hatch. Make sure they are symmetric, then adjust accordingly.

Also on the middle-rise of the hatch channel on the body of the car, with hatch open, there are two rubber bumpers that can be adjusted up/down to apply the right pressure to the middle of the hatch. They squeak sometimes, a piece of clear tape or a schmear of dow-molycoat111 in the channel where the rubber meets it may cure the squeak.

Once the hatch is aligned then you can adjust the hatch receiver horizontally, body receiver horizontally, and also adjust the motor vertically. All three are adjustable but the bolts sometimes get frozen with time. Apply some loosening spray and give it time and love, and they'll work loose after awhile. Also, high-quality hex bits will make for a much better experience, low quality hex bits will make your life miserable.

Good luck! Stay well

Oh yeah, there are spacer plates that live under both the body and hatch receivers. Adding or subtracting spacer plates is another "vertical spacial adjustment" that helps. I've got a few extra spacers if you can't your hands on any and need some.
Lady Bug, Thanks for the offer. Yes, I will need your spacer plates, two if you can spare. Let me know how much you need for them plus postage. Thanks, email: MBambo@comcast.net
