The car made it to the lift from winter storage today, to fix a long-time "seepage" problem at the gearbox. If it was a leak I would have fixed it sooner... All cleaned under there, drying now, then drain the sump. Seepage (it's not a leak!) is from the o-ring where the reservoir slides over the tube from the sump, or it's from the reservoir cap. Either way, the reservoir comes out tomorrow for full inspection, cleaning, and some new parts. Then another cleaning before refilling. I may add the dab of Dreibond that GregB mentions on that little shaft end that surfaces by the reservoir. I hate doing hack fixes, but this one comes with the blessings and directions from the Master. Hold my beer!

Anyone who has this interior color knows the problem of "50 Shades of Porsche Light Grey".

The car is running flawlessly so I've been working on the interior. I DIY recovered the pod last year and it came out surprisingly well. The dash and console recovering is queued up but there were delays so I just started working on the carpet. From upper left clockwise, new DIY right rear footwell, new DIY underseat A/C valve cover carpet, old underseat carpet, various carpet and vinyl swatches for matching, old right rear footwell. Yes that is the actual OEM color on both old and new carpets - Porsche Light Grey/Porsche Raspberry.

2 pieces down, 23 to go.

So my ashtray mounting tabs were broken and the ashtray just rattled around so I thought that I would fix it by J-B welding some aluminum plates under the broken tabs that i could tap. Then I said...."I don't smoke but would like to have an accessory plug". so I bought a set on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/EEEKit-Charger-Voltmeter-Cigarette-Splitter/dp/B07TFBW482/ref=sr_1_22?dchild=1&keywords=accessory+plug+with+voltmeter&qid=1592688743&sr=8-22 https://www.amazon.com/EEEKit-Charger-Voltmeter-Cigarette-Splitter/dp/B07TFBW482/ref=sr_1_22?dchild=1&keywords=accessory+plug+with+voltmeter&qid=1592688743&sr=8-22
and fitted them to a plate I manufactured with the same spacing as the ashtray mounting holes. Now I also have a digital readout of my voltage, @13.7 volts.

Three weeks ago started this ....and yesterday got all this put back together and it still works! Biggest repair I have ever taken on and didn't have full faith until test drive was complete. Couldn't have done it without this forum for guidance. Gearbox was leaking badly from the grate, so that was the focus, but did a lot of the while you in there stuff. Delighted went to plan and back on the road.

Default Nuthin' like Flushin'

Flushed coolant from The Black Witch in preparation for Sharks in the Badlands.

- Drain coolant from one block plug and radiator
- Fill with Tap Water, run to operating temperature and drain
- Fill with Distilled water, open up heater valve, run to operating temperature and drain x 2
- Fill with Distilled water only and go for a drive (not done yet)

One of the block drain plugs is rounded off so I am getting a rounded nut removal tool and new plug later this week. When those come in, plus new Heater Control Valve, I'll do final drain and go back with 60% Distilled Water/40% Porsche Coolant.

Also got the sensor lead for my 3rd (in front of radiator) Fan installed in radiator. This SPAL fan comes on at the higher end of the temperature range and is triggered to turn on whenever the AC is on. This setup should ensure no heat soak from AC in stop/go traffic PLUS heaven forbid the FANs or FAN controls fail, I'll still have cooling.

replaced a couple of missing nuts on my oil pan.

released the front pinch bolt and checked the thrust bearing .. .008 ..replaced with a new bolt and Tqd to 66ftlbs..

while i was down there.....replaced my starter with a used one of an old engine i have. ....my original 200K mile starter was tired and the bendix would drag after starting making an embarrassing noise....... This starter came of a 40k mile engine. What a difference!!!

started diving into my cooling fans....

little bits here and there...

A good day!
