Default Bowden clip

I think I have a similar problem with my clip on the Bowden cable. It's causing a leak. Is there any way to fashion a clip to secure it to the tranny housing??

Took apart the passenger side valve cover. That is one pain to get off, so many more items I had to disconnect and take apart. I know putting it back on is going to take some patience....

Default Bowden Cable Repair

Funny you should ask...

I got a used replacement Bowden cable from MarkA but faced with the effort involved to R&R most of the drive train we decided to investigate a "custom clip". Attached are pictures. The setup is to use an extended length transmission pan bolt to give something for the bottom of the angle clip to attach to. Then a second angle clip with a notch cut out on top was connected via a slot. The notch cut out sits on top on the busted Bowden cable connector and holds it into the transmission body. The slot end is adjustable to make sure the notch cut is tight. Works great!

A big expense saver because I'm sending back the replacement Bowden cable and didn't have to remove half of the drive train to replace the cable.

Thanks to Professor Ray for the innovative clip. The second picture is what the connector(red) is supposed to look like. My PO had cracked off most of the plastic clip(white) that is supposed to hold things in place.

Removed my clutch and picking away at the engine removal. Good progress with help from fellow Rennlisters. Need to remove my rad cowel and throttle cables. then disconnect the wiring harness tomorrow. After that pull it apart and check the damage on the existing engine.

The prognosis on the replacement engine isn't good though. There are scores in the cylinder walls I am hoping that the original engine block will be fine after the rod bearing failure, but not holding my breath.

Replaced the passenger side valve cover gasket and spark plug seals. She looks fresh on both sides now.

Ordered a new O2 sensor from Roger. Will put that in next week with a new heater control valve.

Looking to replace the injectors with Ford ones, looking to see if they are for sale cheaper.

Default Wasted some time on one problem and randomly fixed another.

Removed the tool tray, emergency brake cable covers, and rear floor mat and washed the carpet on all of them.

Pulled apart the center console to replace a window switch that was going bad. Found out the switch I ordered didn't have the same connectors or cable length as the one in my car. https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif Put everything back together just as it was getting dark. When I turned on the headlights to move the car, I noticed that my dim dash lights were now glowing brightly. https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/rockon.gif Maybe karma for the previous futility. Of course now I can never move anything under the console again.

Replaced the LHS inner CV boot. tried to remove axle wheel nut (you know the one that is torqued up to 330ftpd) however using a breaker bar with an extension (old gokart axle) still couldn't get it to budge. More to the point I figured that even if I did get it cracked don;t think my current back condition could take the strain of re-torquing. Anyway the other boots all look good. No surface cracks or visible signs of decay. So just replaced the one boot with the axle still on the car. I now understand what people are saying about the CV joint grease. Fortunately I was well prepared so no real dramas here.

Cheers

Roger has shipped my EIS and also a very nice (real) wood dash kit which was one of the two manufactured by Jager to match as closely to the factory Rootwood. The same as Nicoole has installed in her car. Roger had the other kit but never got round to fitting so it has now found a new home in Aussie and (shortly) in my car!

Cheers

Measured the front ride height on the GT (2 years ago I pulled the CS springs off of it and moved them onto the GTS, and put stock S4 springs back on), ended up taking 5 turns out of each adjuster to bring the front down out of the sky.

I was preparing for an outdoor car show so I spent the day with mothers polish and the power buffer.
Detailed the engine, and conditioned the leather.
I still need to do the windows and the tires but it looks like it is going to rain tomorrow.
I think one more once over and the paint would look much better

Spent the weekend running a new radio antenna cable, putting all the trim back, and installing the new head unit.

All in preparation for installing Hans speaker upgrade & shark-woofer.

Got the RMB installed. Sweet! Being inspired with an obviously faster car I performed a Meguiars SwirlX and Waxing. Took a 10 foot paint job to maybe a 6.
