with minimal time available, i did make some more progress on the 951 this sunday. still have the whole cooling system, P/S lines, alt/ps belts, catback, entire fuel system, etc., etc., but - if i squint - i believe i can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Three hours and three buckets of Dawn later, I'm ready to attack my Guards Pink paint.

I also have three bottles of Meguiars #7 for the post-clay-bar party.

I couldn't stand looking at her like that. My buddies laughing at her didn't help the situation either.

Was like a junk-punch in the soul....

....soon to be remedied!!

Agree, the whole car is pretty nice actually. Just came back from an evening drive.
ROW 924 turbo S1. Surprisingly quick even without intercooling.

fitted a new DME relay, chasing a problem and car wouldn't start. Put old one in and car fired right up. That was money well spent.

Morghen. Love that interior. Any more pics ?

Darryl H your car looks stunning. Love that colour. Do you know what splitter that is ?

Well I had enough of touching up stone chips on the nose of the car, so last night, I removed it, and sanded it all down. I gave it a quick shot of etch prime to protect it until I can get some fine filler to give it a skim coat before reshooting the prime, then on to painting it this weekend. I'm glad its black so it will make matching the colour much easier!...well at least get it close enough to not notice. Other than that, I've been just driving it.

Changed the cap and rotor today. I didn't think the old unit was worn until I saw the new parts. The edge of the old rotor was visibly worn and eroded away. It has approx 1.5mm or wear, almost worn down to the plastic base. The metal conductor on the new rotor protrudes away from the plastic base by a couple mm. The car runs smoother under all conditions. I'm very happy with the change.
Here's a pic comparing old and new.

Spent some time at my buddy Matt's garage doing some work on the car. Took this stuff out:

Fuel Filter was a complete bear. I got gas all over myself.

Found evidence of some wildlife near the fuel pump. Acorns and stuff.

Also put in some LR fuel lines. Again getting fuel all over myself.

Perhaps speaking too soon, but the car is starting up more quickly now with the new filter. The next move would have to be a check valve or replacing the DME.

Checking some connections for the bixenon HID projectors.

Do NOT look into the light!!!!! 10 minutes later and I was still seeing spots.

The last pic is the look I am working toward. My plan is to use a solid header panel and cut out openings for the lights. I just need to figure out the locations and sizes for the openings.
