What did you do to your 924/944 today

My 83 944 sold last week (12/28/2013).
The new owner is the right new owner, that was important to me.
He is mechanically inclined, retired military, one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. He's always wanted a 944, and he seemed to appreciate the care and work I gave MY83944 over the decades.
Jeff (new owner) called after picking the car up. They made the 150 mile trip to Junction City KS with no issues, and it delivered about 30 MPG.
He and his wife are in love with the car and very happy with it.
It has got to be one of the nicer '83's out there, good to see it go to a good home.
Right before the new owners showed up -
Handing Jeff the keys
Jeff getting into his new car -
And away it goes -
End of one era, beginning of another.....
Looking back, I bought MY83944 in 1998 for $3500.00.
Over the years, I put well over $20K into it, not including my labor, of course.
I used only OEM Porsche parts, and lots of them, to get it where I thought it needed to be. Thank goodness I was able to find the parts heavily discounted, or the costs would of been more.
And still, it always seemed to be calling for "More more more".
It will be missed, many good memories, good times......

Three Wheelin'
My HVAC went to full heat on way to work and back, which as Summer is just starting here wasn't good, so I had a look under the hood thinking it may be the heater valve stuck or something. Anyway I found the vacuum tubing had come off the vacuum storage canister thingy, so I reattached it and had working AC again a few seconds later. The car also felt a lot smoother than it did on trip to work, as expected, but was sort of surprised that this being unattached didn't effect running more extremely than it did

I spent the weekend in the chilly, snowy mountains in the S2 and did very well. Having a limited slip really helps in the snow, though it can be a bit trickier when it does break lose. I did see another red 944 up in frisco on saturday night parked on main st, so i know i'm not alone in my insanity.
The car sat in ambient temps of -10ish overnight and then sat in the lot with a -30 wind blowing across it all day today and fired right up with no fuss.

It was a few days ago but I picked up the freshly anodized parts to my Dynatech Strut bar. The pictures aren't great. It is not an exact match to the blue Lindsey hoses but it is close enough. The rest of the parts of the bar are being powder coated the same color grey as my wheels, etc. When it is done, it will look like the picture of nurburger's engine bay but with the blue Dynatech.

Today I finally got back into working on my car by removing about half of the carpet to replace it with the kit from Classic 9 Leather. As you can see, my carpet was shot. The sound deadening under the drivers side front carpet was soaked with water and smelled like death, so I decided to take it out. I had to take a break to let the car air out because it smelled so bad... It disintegrated in my hand when I pulled it out and felt really gross.
The new carpet is amazing compared to what I'm taking out. It's so soft and light. The color isn't an exact match, but my carpet is 26 years old so I doubt it's still the original color. My only complaints are it doesn't have any cut outs for the gas pedal, hood release, or trunk release, there's no snaps on the rear cargo mat piece, and the flap that covers the DME doesn't have any velcro on it. These are all minor things, but for $800 I'd expect it to be a little more finished...

hows the fit of the classic9 kit? i am awaiting material samples from him, what color is that?
today i spent some quality time with my BBS wheels, some meguiars wheel cleaner and a soft brush...color change. also washed the car for the first time in a few weeks, really shiny!
(and yes, that is a stone lion in the corner of the shot)

I haven't tried fitting it yet. It's supposed to be linen colored. I need to vacuum up all the crap that's under the carpet before I glue it down and take care of some rust I found under the water soaked sound deadening. It looks like it'll fit perfectly, but we'll see. Either way it'll look 100 times better than what I removed.

I believe I have the same colour interior..I replaced my trunk carpet with there kit...it looks ok but for the price it should have been perfect with the underlay and all

I agree. I don't mind that it doesn't have the foam under the rear trunk mat. I had to remove it on the original mat for my KLA hidden subwoofer and it's heavy as ****, but it would have been really nice if it had the holes for the seat rail bolts, gas pedal, seat belt bolts, the clips for the trunk side pieces, etc. If I mess those holes up I'm screwed

This was yesterday, today we have even more work to do.
Just a precursor...Doug (Dougs951s), Michael (Sausagehacker), and I have been friends for a while now but this is the first time all 3 of our cars were on the road together...mostly because my car keeps going under the knife and we live an hour or more away from each other, so keep in mind it's a work in progress. I put the front bumper on unpainted (but freshly repaired, slicked, and primered) because I need to pass inspection and have to have turn signals. The whole car will be getting whatever body work it needs and a respray eventually.
Anyways...check it out. NA, V8, and Turbo. We just need some dohc guys to run with. Anyone in central texas want to meet up?

Finished phase one of the 10-speaker conversion on my '88 Turbo, aka the door panels! The stock speakers were completely destroyed and have been since I've owned the car, managed to snag an entire 10-speaker interior from a guy who was stripping out his Turbo for the track. So far, so good, now only the rear 4x6's fart with the slightest hint of bass . Phase two comes tomorrow for the rear speakers...
