I pushed my clutch master through my firewall and broke the clevis At least I was in my driveway when it finally gave out...just got back from a little drive.

I guess I should've made the reinforcement plate when I first got the template.

The 944 firewall must not like my pp/clutch combo. Spec stage 2+ 6 puck hybrid in, very stiff, but I really like it. Time for reinforcements!

We got the replacement side window in & hooked up the fuel system that the PO had taken apart. We installed a new fuel injector, set the time, put the rear side light back in it & found out I have a bad ignition coil keeping it from running.

just completed my first timing belt/balance belt/roller/ complete front engine reseal today! wow what a job... Special thanks to Rennlisters Todd and Charlie for the advice and guidance.

how many front seals were there to replace? Did it require a "seal puller" (not even sure what that is but it was recommended I have one)

I havent done a clutch, but I understand the clutch is more difficult. there are 4 seals, 3 races, 3 o rings and one gear. I bought a seal puller but it was a piece of junk, I found a method on youtube where you use a screw (carefully) to back them out. I am not a mechanic, but with youtube, clarks garage and folks on Rennlist, it wasnt that it was 'hard', it was mainly having never done it before, not knowing what to expect, which is where having someone to talk to that has done it is huge. It took me probably 15 hours over 3 days with a buddye helping but we took our time and double checked everything. If i did it again, I could likely do it in a day.

So I painted the front bumper, header panel, lip, side skirts, and spoiler on Monday and installed them on Tuesday (minus spoiler). Cleaned the car New Years morning, dropped the top, and went for a drive. The plan for tomorrow is to install the Broadfoot exhaust, work on fitting the custom mirrors before paint then install. More pictures when those items are done (hopefully before the weekend).

Let me know what you guys think. My brothers kept telling me the tires are too tall (and I sort of agree, 225/50 front on 16x8, 245/45 rear on 16x9) but it's the same size I see on other 944's and those cars look good in the pictures... I have a set of 17" HRE wheels I'm considering installing to get the "lowered" look. I'll decide what to do after the mirror install.

MY83944

My 83 944 sold last week (12/28/2013).

The new owner is the right new owner, that was important to me.

He is mechanically inclined, retired military, one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. He's always wanted a 944, and he seemed to appreciate the care and work I gave MY83944 over the decades.

Jeff (new owner) called after picking the car up. They made the 150 mile trip to Junction City KS with no issues, and it delivered about 30 MPG.

He and his wife are in love with the car and very happy with it.

It has got to be one of the nicer '83's out there, good to see it go to a good home.

End of one era, beginning of another.....

Looking back, I bought MY83944 in 1998 for $3500.00.

Over the years, I put well over $20K into it, not including my labor, of course.

I used only OEM Porsche parts, and lots of them, to get it where I thought it needed to be. Thank goodness I was able to find the parts heavily discounted, or the costs would of been more.

And still, it always seemed to be calling for "More more more".

It will be missed, many good memories, good times......

Veleno- I think what your brothers mean when they say that the tires are too tall is that there's too much sidewall height. The old 16" size just doesn't look right anymore. I'd opt for 17's or 18's with smaller sidewalls and similar or bigger overall height. Your car also has a little too much fender gap showing. Looks would be much improved if the car was lowered just 1/2" and a set of 17's installed.

Yeah, I know what you mean (and them). The HRE's are staggered 17" so we'll see how they work out. As for the height, that's another issue I'm working on so hopefully it'll be lowered soon.

I finally put the 944 in the garage to prep for some work. First step was to put the refinished the interior panels back in place and get the antenna working.

Next: speed/ref sensors, a lot of tuning, and addressing the hatch.
