I'd guess it's a combination of (a) pastel orange isn't for everyone, which narrows the pool of bidders, and (b) probably most folks heavily discount value of the 10k of CXX on the sticker.

I loved the car. Beautiful in every way.

But you're right.

1. Pastel Orange isn't for me. Brewster or Nato Olive or some deep non-metallic blue preferably.

2. I don't heavily value a lot of the CXX stuff, especially almost $5K for the orange marker GT steering wheel.

The buyer got a great deal and the seller paid what he paid to put some miles on a fantastic car. In most ordinary markets you do have to pay to play.

This 000 Spyder will test this theory of diminishing returns:

No color is going to appeal to all buyers, that's a matter of taste. I have no idea why people expect to get PTS\customization money back on sale.
Most GT4s in like this car (low mileage, ppf, perfect condition, etc.) were sold for well over MSRP, it means that the seller lost money for the customization - which is absolutely fine and how it should be

What an amazing interior. Would I want it instead of the Classic one I chose? Absolutely. Would I pay more than, let's say, $5k extra for that? nope.

Yeah the 000 interior doesn't have much on the Classic interior tbh.

Two test results in already, and nice to see neither owner was punished for ordering a 718 Spyder with the CXX 000 Package—or, for that matter, driving them.

It will be interesting to see how this one ends up, but the 718 Spyder remains appealing whether configured with no/few options or built out to GT3 pricing. And I'd much rather pay for high-grade finishes and options in a 718 GT car than pay similar $ in pure ADM on a new or used GT3/RS/etc. As always, YMMV!

Beautifully stated. My bet is we'll see a similar result in the 3rd "test."

Ah...so you're the reason my 4 year wait was for naught?

Were the aurum wheels an option? I always felt the silver wheels were a nice choice for that package. The aurum detracts in this case, IMO.

Where is pricing at on a 718 GT4s? Many dealers and sellers seem to want 10k or more over sticker, for a now 2 or 3 year old car, but the auctions I’ve watched don’t seem to bring that. I’m looking to buy a Gt4. Should I be willing to pay over sticker today, or wait it out and try to pick up a more reasonably priced car? I have the itch to buy, which can sometimes make you overpay…Has anyone been able to get dealers to deal?

I think the listing says the wheels were painted after delivery. I like 'em better than silver.

You aren’t going to convince a dealer to accept an auction price so if that’s your goal then you should just be realistic. Only way you can hope to get a price down is deal with a private seller and even then you’re competing against others who don’t mind offering 5-10k above an auction price if it’s the right car. It can be done but will require lots of work and patience with private seller cars. Also if a well priced car comes up for sale it can be gone in 24-48 hours so if you didn’t check the market that day then you missed out.

12 months ago dealers were asking 15-25k over on these cars. If 10k is worth another 12 months to you then keep waiting but with them being discontinued prices may not go down.

My advice is find the car/spec you want and pay a fair price, you won’t care about that 10k after owning it.

It really depends on what you are looking for. If you are not that picky or in a hurry, you could wait it out but why deprive yourself for a few bucks? On the other hand, if you have must-have options and find a car with those you should not wait.
